Today was a good day. ❤️

I was giving a lesson to a client, and Karma spent the entire time doing her cute little nickers anytime she thought I was walking toward her or talking loudly enough for her to recognize my voice. It was honestly so precious and sweet. 🥹 She has become really bonded to me, and I to her.

After the lesson, she and I lunged. With the smoke finally clear, fat camp has officially been initiated in full force. 😂

We then walked around the arena ba****ck and worked on setting up at the mounting block, because there is absolutely no way I'm hopping off this mammoth just to meet my demise 50 feet down. 😂

Lastly, we worked on our lay-down cue. She has it down pretty solid now! She does, however, get very easily distracted by those darn leaves on the ground. 🙄😂

One step at a time! ❤️

While I was drilling, Karma was doing super great... until the impact drill started making those impact drill noises. 😂

Then she flew out of her stall like a bat out of hell! 💀

It took until the third scream before she finally came looking for me.

Once she found me, she immediately went back to loving on me like nothing had happened. 🥰

Apparently, the drill is terrifying... but Mom is still safe. 😂❤️

P.s this isnt her first experience with a drill 🙄 horses 🤦‍♀️

Karma and I had a VERY busy evening! ❤️
I put up a new hay net ring and grain bucket ring, a hook for her Jolly Ball, and a tie ring so I can safely tie her in her stall. This is going to be especially helpful during the winter! I can now do just about everything with her in her stall when it's wet, freezing, or otherwise miserable outside. 😂 Her stall also has a heat lamp, which is going to be SOOOO handy!
She lunged like a total goober tonight. Spitting fire and being a dragon. 😂🔥 I didn't get any video because I was very much in the moment with her, just enjoying her being wild and chaotic on the line.
We practiced our lay-down cue, got plenty of scratches and itches in, and then got tucked in for the night. 🥰

Karma and I did something a little different today! We decided to explore the trails right here at the facility where we board, and they were SO cool! 🥰

We only made it through maybe an eighth of what’s available, so I’d say we have plenty more exploring to do! It was such a fun change of pace, and Karma even got to show another green horse that trails can be relaxed, fun, and nothing to be nervous about. ❤️

Of course, Karma had to make things interesting by trying to eat EVERYTHING. 🙄🤣 I swear, keeping her from turning our hike into an all-you-can-eat buffet was infuriating. 😂

And apparently, every time I pulled my camera out, Karma decided she needed to be the star of the show. Naturally. 🤦‍♀️🤣

I did manage to get a selfie with her, though! You’ll have to ignore my face—I got pretty badly sunburned during my camping trip this past weekend. 😅🔥

Well miss ma'am and i have our first ride in the books 😍
We did work ourselves into quite the sweat on the ground. She was pretty pumped and energetic. I am sure her energy will be non existent tomorrow from all the effort she put into lunging 🤣 Once i got on we focused on extended trot, jog, stop, turns and softening. These are all things she already knows. Today was more about me learning her buttons. I appreciate my bestie for putting a solid start on this horse.
Once we were soft and responsive we had a 30 minute cool down. Then a groom and now as I make this post we are grazing. I am feeling very blessed to have the opportunity to have such a cool horse ❤️❤️

Karma got a much needed bath today!
I braided her mane and tail in hopes to get the thick and luscious hair again. She has been a rather itchy girl. For an animal designed to endure the desert she sure is sensitive in it 🫩 I was able to get a fly sheet that fits her! Its a little snug on the belly though... thank goodness for stretchy belly straps. She has gotten a bit thicker with her time off. 😅

I finally got a video of Karma laying down the other night! 🥰

And yes... she did, in fact, roll immediately. 😂 But this time I was prepared for it! 💀

She has officially got the new cue down, and I'm so excited about that little win. ❤️ Now we just have to work on the whole "lay down and don't immediately roll" part. 😂

Well, I cued Karma to lay down so I could finally get a video... and this lady decided it was the perfect time to immediately ROLL. 😂💀

Not that it was intentional, but she almost took me out! I was absolutely not prepared for her to roll. 🤦‍♀️

I was so excited to finally get a video of her laying down so I could love on her. Maybe even lay on her while she was down. But no. She had other plans. 😒😂

Small wins, though! She responded to her cue and laid down correctly. I'll take it! ❤️

Maybe next time I'll get the sweet, peaceful video I had pictured in my head. 😂

Today there was still a little bit of smoke, but it was clear enough for us to get some work in! ❤️

Karma and I lunged, played, and groomed. She is absolutely obsessed with getting her teats scratched. 😂 If she could have me stand there scratching them all day, she probably would.

And now for the update you've all been waiting for...

The fly spray is Piranha! 🦟

This stuff kicks some serious butt! 😍 I am so impressed with how well it has been working against those little devil bugs. I'm definitely hopeful that we may have finally found our winner! 🙌
