We are excited to welcome back the DVCTA - Delaware Valley Combined Training Assoc. Quadrille Team to Dressage at Devon this year! ✨ Did you know that Dressage at Devon was started by DVCTA members officially in 1975, and many DVCTA members still volunteer at the show. Several DVCTA members have served and are on the current Board of Directors. DVCTA is a beneficiary of Dressage at Devon, who is proud to help support the tradition that the show was founded on.
A quadrille is an even number of 4 or more horses performing a pattern. USDF provides standard patterns that can be judged, with or without music, in competition. Riders are encouraged to coordinate turnout within the guidelines of USDF. The DVCTA squad is an exhibition team so costumes are a must! DVCTA’s Quad Squad relies completely on volunteers to produce their exhibitions. Many hours are spent practicing, traveling to rehearsals, working on costumes, editing music, refining the choreography and rearranging schedules to create the final product.
“Besides being one of the most prestigious shows in the country, the Dressage at Devon atmosphere is electric!” said DVCTA Quad Squad Manager Anne Miller. “You know it’s special the minute you step on campus. The audience is more reactive than at other venues and the riders feel the appreciation. We are thrilled to be invited back to Devon and can’t wait to bring “The Roaring 20’s” under the lights in the Dixon Oval! I think the music will produce some foot tapping this year! I am so grateful to our dedicated riders and volunteers who give so much of their time each year to make our performances successful!”
A little off topic - but my feeble mind is driving me crazy. It's been a whole lot of years since I competed, but I used to do some schooling shows hosted by DVCTA and I sort of remember there was a farm called Blue Rock -- not the one that's easily findable on Google - but another Blue Rock (I THINK..... the Blue Rock I can google doesn't really look the same in my memory)....same area, there was a little bridge you had to cross to get on the property and it had a beautiful standalone indoor - everything was very rustic/historical looking. Am I crazy or was there another Blue Rock at one time (forgive me, I am not from Chester County!)?
The August meeting has been postponed until August 30.
