Well here we go again…. Before you ask… yes it is late in the year for swarms. The closer to fall 🍂 and winter ❄️ these ladies choose to leave their hives the less chance they have of surviving through the winter, but it’s always worth a shot. Did you find the queen?

This was a small swarm resting in a magnolia tree. 🌳 We will try to get them all set up in a fully furnished home and hope for the best. Remember to give us a a call if you see any honey bees in need of a home. It’s never too late to “bring back the bees”. 🐝

Good day everyone! I wanted to take a moment to personally invite you out to the farmers market event hosted by in Richland’s NC. Details are in the photo. We will be out with some of our delicious firefighter harvested honey and would love to see you there! Come get your jar 🍯 and help support our cause to bring “back the bees” 🐝 and remember to shop local when possible.

Spring time is swarm season and this year was off the charts for me. 📈 This was Swarm #4 of the season back in April!! 🐝 This was a nice size swarm. Safely relocated with the queen and all! 👸 Please spread the word to your friends and neighbors to hit up BBRC if they have any honey bees that need to be relocated! Please do not kill them! Together we can “Bring Back the Bees!”

How far will I fly??? 🐝 Many estimates honey bees will fly up to 500 miles in their roughly 6 week life span.

It’s true, for my hive and family I will fly as far as 5 miles for resources to make less than 1 teaspoon of honey. 🥄🍯

Generally, when resources are readily available, these hard working ladies will forage 1-2 miles from the hive.

Still, they have been known to travel up to 5 miles away when resources are scarce.

So…. What did we find?

A be mansion! 🐝 Perhaps one of the largest cutouts/colonies I have had the pleasure relocating. This was a special cutout as well because it was in my late grandparents home which has set “abandoned” (aside from the squatter bees) for some time.

This place in FL is just as much home as NC to me. I remember my grandfather kept that yard like the garden of Eden. Beautiful plants 💐 and fruit trees 🍊🍐🥭 everywhere. It’s no wonder the bees decided to make this home.

Thank you grandma and grandpa for helping me “bring back the bees.” Love you both!

PS: HUGE thank you Michael Cooper & his wife Crystal over at Big Cypress Ranch for this amazing gift! After Only 4.5 hours start to finish… Can’t imagine how long it would have taken without it! This bee vacuum made my life so much easier! Gracias!🙏
