Last night was, surprisingly, kind of a big night for me and a milestone for my dream to grow food for my community. I work full time at KC Farm School and we were hosting a beautiful community dinner at The Farmhouse KC. Earlier this week my boss asked me if I by chance had any beets growing at my place, which I did (and had been thinking about harvesting them soon for a last pickling party of the summer), and she asked to buy them and some poblano peppers for this dinner.
Of course I was excited to make my fourth-ever sale of veggies in this first trial season of my farm. But, it didn't hit me until I worked the dinner last night and was introduced as one of the farms featured on the menu just how incredibly proud, grateful and excited I was to see my farm's name in print for the first time on this INCREDIBLE restaurant’s menu and my beets being served by these talented chefs and enjoyed by so many.
