Today is bittersweet. After 3 years of one of the most rewarding ventures I’ve been able to experience, I sent home my final group of pups. I’ve accepted a new position with HCA Hospice, and will no longer be watching dogs. I can’t begin to tell how excited I am to start this new career. I know it will be life changing on many different levels.
Being able to stay home and watch dogs was a dream come true. Taking care of animals is a passion, and also not for the faint of heart. It was how I started and ended every single day, with few days off in between. I missed holidays, weekend getaways, and cleaned up more crap than most of you could even imagine. But I also got to love on some of the very best friends a man could ask for. Soaking up the sun and belly rubs is something I will miss. But I’m ready to get out and about and see new faces. I’m ready to have my home back.
Thank you to all my friends and family who entrusted me with your furry family. Your support meant the world to me.
Thank you to Kevin Simpson and Heidi Taylor with More Dog Than Human. Your guidance and friendship was paramount in my success, and I love you both. I couldn’t ask for better mentors andd friends.
Thank you to Henri and Blaise Cobb who not only helped when needed, but also had to put up with barking, whining, slobber, and lots of hair.
The biggest thank you goes to my biggest supporter, my love, Sara. You took this on with me. You helped guide me. You struggled with me. You succeeded with me. It wasn’t easy giving up time, space, and energy. You never wavered. You only gave. For that, I am forever grateful. You are simply the best, and I love you always.
