Day 2 in the books! The weather was perfect, and after all the rain the arena footing turned out absolutely superb once things dried out. The riders were incredible—showing grit, determination, consistency, and most importantly being good stewards of their sport.

I could not be prouder of our little troop of riders. With every ride they continue to show me what determination, resilience, and heart truly look like. The ribbons are wonderful, but watching these riders grow, support each other, and keep showing up with dedication is what makes me the proudest. 💜.

Day 1 of the Colorado Jumping Series is in the books and what a way to start! After pouring rain, the arenas dried out just enough to make it happen. We pushed through mud, a cold early morning that quickly turned into summer heat, nerves, long days, and a lot of grit and determination.

The team showed up, rode hard, supported each other, and walked away with ribbons, clean rounds, valuable experience, and plenty of smiling faces. So proud of these riders and horses for digging deep and getting the job done.

Now it’s time to reset and get ready for Day 2! 🐴🏅

What people think riding lessons are:
👉 Sit on the horse and learn to ride

What they actually are:
👉 Learning to manage a 1,000 lb animal that has opinions

That gap is where most people struggle.

👉 And it’s also where most people get hurt.

Sometimes the best growth happens when you step completely outside your comfort zone.

This weekend we took our jumpers to a hunter show for the experience before heading to the Colorado circuit. The goal wasn’t ribbons — it was education, adaptability, and challenging both horse and rider in a completely different environment.

And they rose to the occasion beautifully. 💜

We came home with ribbons proving that even the biggest jumpers can slow down, settle in, and shine in the hunter ring too.

So proud of these riders for stepping out of the fast-paced jumper world and putting their riding skills to the test in the complete opposite style of riding they train for every day. Different pace. Different feel. Different ride.

That kind of versatility builds real horsemen and horsewomen.

The best riders aren’t just good at one thing — they learn how to adapt, adjust, and grow in every arena they step into. 🦄✨.

If you’ve bought or leased a horse and thought—
‘Now what?’

This is for you.

There’s a huge gap in the horse world:

👉 Riding is taught
👉 Ownership is not

That’s exactly what this course fixes.

If your horse doesn’t stop when you stop—you’re not in control.”

REALITY
That turns into pushing, dragging, and ignoring you.

FIX
Make the stop clear—and enforce it every time.

Fix this before it escalates.

If your horse reacts to the cinch and you ignore it—you’re missing a problem.

REALITY
That’s discomfort, behavior, or both.

FIX
Slow down. Pay attention. Address the cause.

Don’t ignore warning signs.

Your horse isn’t bad when tied… you just skipped a step.

If your horse pulls back, paws, swings around, or panics when tied…
that’s not attitude.

That’s a horse that doesn’t understand pressure.

Most people make this mistake—they tie the horse and hope it learns.
That’s how you create a wreck.
Your horse needs to learn one thing first:

👉 pressure means step forward, not back
If they don’t know that… tying becomes panic.
I break down exactly how to train this step-by-step on my blog.

If your horse can’t stand tied, it’s not a small issue—it’s a safety problem.

Most horses aren’t trained for it properly. They’re just tied and expected to deal with it.

That’s where things go wrong.

👉 I break down exactly how to fix this (and what NOT to do) in my blog.
Go read it before your next ride.
