🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐶🎃🦋

BOO! Did I scare you?! 👻😂

It’s HALLOWEEN, and apparently my human thinks I need a little wardrobe upgrade for the occasion! So today I’m trading in my truffle-hunting gear for something a little more… MAGICAL! ✨

Check out my fabulous butterfly wings! 🦋💕 Complete with a pretty pink flower, I think I’ve gone from woodland explorer to woodland fairy! 🧚‍♀️🌸

Now, I have a few thoughts about this whole dressing-up business…

🐾 First, if there’s a costume involved, it MUST be comfortable. A girl needs to be able to sit, walk, wag, sniff, and occasionally sneak a treat without any wardrobe malfunctions!

🐾 Second, I believe every costume should come with compliments. LOTS of compliments. And maybe a few extra treats for being such a good sport! 🦴

🐾 Third, remember that not every pup enjoys dressing up. Some of us love the attention, while others would rather celebrate Halloween in our birthday suits (well, our fur suits!). Always make sure your furry friends are comfortable and never force a costume.

As for me? I’m ready to flutter through Halloween spreading smiles, collecting compliments, and probably investigating whether those pumpkins smell like treats! 🎃👃

Wishing all my furry friends and their humans a HOWLING good Halloween! Stay safe, have FUN, and remember… you don’t need a costume to be someone’s little BOO! ❤️🐾

Sniff you Later, Tart. 🐾🦋

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐶💕

Today’s topic is… PERSONAL HYGIENE! 😂🛁👅

You know what they say: A girl has to look her best, even when nobody’s watching! And sometimes that means taking matters into your OWN paws… or should I say, tongue! 🤣

Today’s video is a little behind-the-scenes look at my self-cleaning routine. No appointment, no fancy grooming salon, no expensive spa treatment. Just me, getting the job done! 👅🐾

Did you know dogs naturally groom themselves by licking their fur and paws? It’s one way we:
🐾 Keep ourselves clean and remove dirt.
🐾 Groom areas we can reach.
🐾 Help maintain our coats.
🐾 Soothe ourselves and settle down.

But here’s a little human tip! While a little licking is perfectly normal, excessive licking, chewing, or focusing on one spot can sometimes signal irritation, allergies, pain, or another issue. So keep an eye on your furry friends and check with your veterinarian if something seems unusual.

Personally, I think my technique deserves FIVE PAWS! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Although my human seems to think I could use a little assistance with the whole grooming department. Humans… always trying to improve perfection! 🙄😂

Remember, friends: Take time for yourself, practice a little self-care, and don’t forget to Make Your Own FUN! ❤️

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a few more spots to inspect! 😉

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐶🐾📸

STOP THE SNIFFIN’! I have some BIG news! 🎉🐾

Your favorite four-legged truffle hunter is going to be a CALENDAR DOG! 🤩🐕🗓️

That’s right, friends! My adorable face has officially made the cut for the January 2027–December 2027 Paw Print Dog Calendar! 🐾❤️

I guess all those cute poses, silly antics, woodland adventures, truffle-hunting practice sessions, and puppy-dog eyes finally paid off! 😂🍄‍🟫🌳

My human says I’m a natural in front of the camera. I say it helps when you’re naturally THIS cute! 😉🐶💕 (Modesty is overrated when you have this much floof!)

Just imagine… twelve whole months of celebrating our amazing canine companions, spreading smiles, and reminding everyone that life is better when you Make Your Own FUN! 🎉🐾

And who knows? Maybe someone will be looking at my handsome face while planning their day and thinking, “What kind of mischief can I get into today?” My answer? ALWAYS YES! 🤣

Want to see the calendar and check it out for yourself? Have your humans visit the link below! 👇🐾

A HUGE tail-wagging THANK YOU to everyone who makes opportunities like this possible! ❤️🐾 I’m so excited to share a little Tart happiness with the world, one calendar day at a time!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, all this modeling has made me tired. I need a nap, a snack, and possibly a celebratory game of tug-of-war. 💤🦴😂

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾
Hi friends, it’s me Tart! 🐶📚 After practicing our manners at the rehab facility, my human decided it’s time to hit the books! Today we are officially working through our Pet Partners Handler Guide and self-study exercises! 📖✨
I learned that watching my human fill out worksheets and actually contributing to the team are two very different things! 🤔📝 My primary job during independent study is to provide moral support, which apparently looks a lot like taking a deep, restorative nap on the couch while keeping one eye on the paperwork! 🤣🛋️
While my human handles the reading, I’m busy mastering the most important team dynamics:
🐕 Ultimate Team Player: Becoming a registered therapy team means learning how to read each other perfectly so we can support others. 🤝❤️
💚 Pacing Yourself: Scent work takes brainpower, but so does studying! Taking regular decompressing breaks on a cozy cushion is essential to the learning process.
🎉 End on a Win: Knowing that all this hard work brings us one step closer to making official therapy visits is the best motivation a pup could ask for!
We are learning that building a great partnership takes time, focus, and a whole lot of heart—and maybe just a little bit of snoring from the assistant! 🧠💤

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s Tart! 🐶🎒 Today my human and I packed up my training gear and went on a very special mission to a rehabilitation facility!

We went to visit a dear friend who has been recovering there, and we brought along a copy of the book Make Your Own FUN! to help lift her spirits! 📚✨ I learned that reading a book and living out its title are two very different things! 🤔 Giving comfort means showing up with a wagging tail, sitting quietly, and sharing some love right when it’s needed most. 🤣

While I was there to visit our friend, the wonderful staff at the facility asked if I would say hello to some of the other residents, too! 🥰 Since I’m still a working girl, it was the absolute perfect opportunity to practice my public therapy manners:
🐕 Training in public: Wearing my “In Training” badge means learning to stay calm, focused, and gentle around wheelchairs and walkers. ♿
💚 Spreading cheer: Moving from room to room to share a soft head-boop requires a lot of patience and a steady pace.
🎉 Ending on a win: Seeing our friend smile and leaving everyone with a little extra joy was the ultimate reward for a hard day’s work!

Visiting people who are healing reminds me that we don’t need a wide-open woods to find a purpose—sometimes the best treasure you can find is just making someone’s day a little brighter! 🌳❤️

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s Tart! 🐶☀️ Today my best friend Buck and I are ditching the truffle woods to share some very important backyard science! 🌳🧪

We’ve been doing some serious research on why dogs and cats absolutely love to soak up the sun. It turns out, finding the warmest spot on the lounge chair and understanding the biological reason why it feels so good are two very different things! 🤔🔬

While my human thinks we’re just lounging around, Buck and I are actually busy doing the following:
☀️ Making Vitamins: The sun interacts with the natural oils in our fur to synthesize vital nutrients! When we groom ourselves later, we absorb that goodness.
🔋 Powering Up: Absorbing direct heat helps us maintain our basal body temperature without burning through our food calories. It’s like plugging ourselves into a solar charger!
🧠 Finding the Good Vibes: Sunlight naturally triggers a boost in melatonin and serotonin, which regulates our sleep cycles and keeps us feeling extra happy.

So if you see your furry friends moving with the patches of light across the patio today, don’t think we’re just being lazy. We are busy optimizing our biology! 🧠💥

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐾🐶🍂

Today we ventured a little farther into the woods for some truffle-hunting practice! 🌳🍄‍🟫 I was ready to sniff out some treasures… well, at least that was the plan! 😂

Turns out, finding the general area of a truffle scent and pinpointing the EXACT spot are two very different things! 🤔👃 I had to work a little harder to figure out exactly where those sneaky decoys were hiding. Sometimes a girl needs to stop, sniff, circle around, and reconsider her life choices! 🤣

And speaking of decoys… did you notice my human holding them up in front of me while wearing a rubber glove? 🧤👀 No funny business here! My human is handling the scent decoys carefully to help keep the training scents consistent and avoid transferring other smells. It’s all part of helping my nose learn what to look for! 👃🍄

🐾 Today’s lesson from the woods: Sometimes even a truffle dog isn’t feeling it!

Here’s something humans should know: dogs can have off days, too! ❤️🐶

👃 Sniffing takes brainpower! Scent work requires concentration, problem-solving, and persistence. New environments, changing wind, damp leaves, competing smells, and unfamiliar terrain can make finding that exact spot extra challenging.

🐕 Watch your dog’s signals. Slower searching, wandering away, sniffing unrelated things, losing interest, repeatedly checking in with you, or seeming frustrated may mean your pup needs a break—or that the task is simply too difficult right now. Of course, those behaviors can also mean something else, so pay attention to the whole picture.

💚 Keep it FUN! If your dog is struggling, don’t turn practice into a battle. Make the search easier, move back to a familiar area, use a well-placed decoy, celebrate small successes, or take a sniff-and-explore break.

💧 Check the basics. Water, rest, comfortable temperatures, and a chance to decompress matter. If your pup seems unusually tired, uncomfortable, or repeatedly uninterested, stop and consider whether something else is going on.

🎉 End on a win! One successful find followed by praise, play, or a favorite reward can be more valuable than pushing through a long, frustrating session.

My human and I are learning together that truffle hunting isn’t just about finding the treasure. It’s about learning to read each other, building confidence, and enjoying the adventure—even when the nose knows there’s something there but the paws haven’t figured out exactly WHERE! 😂🐾🍄‍🟫

After all, the woods aren’t going anywhere, and neither are the truffles (hopefully)! 🌳💚

Sniff you Later, Tart 🐾❤️

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐶💚

Welcome back to my Therapy Dog Prep Course at the Western Michigan University Unified Clinic! 🎓🐾

Who knew becoming a therapy dog meant so much homework?! 😂

This week, we practiced some VERY important skills to help us prepare for our future visits in the community.

🐾 Stay at YOUR station! We learned to hang out with our own humans and not interrupt the other dogs while they work. No crashing their study sessions to say hello! Even though… making new friends is kind of my thing. 😜

🎈 Parachutes and different levels! We practiced being comfortable around unusual objects, movement, and changes in our surroundings.

♿ Wheelchairs and walkers! We got to experience equipment we might see when visiting healthcare facilities and other community settings.

🧤 Hand sanitizer and rubber gloves! New smells, sounds, and sensations? Just another day in therapy dog school!

🐕 AND A MOVING TOY DOG! Yep! A pretend pup that MOVES! Because apparently, even a toy dog can keep us on our paws. 😂

The goal is to help us stay calm, confident, and focused around all kinds of people, objects, and situations. Our humans are learning too, because being a therapy dog team means working together and paying attention to each other.

A huge thank-you to Dr. Angie Moe and the WMU Unified Clinic for helping us build these skills one paw at a time! ❤️🐾

I’m learning that being a therapy dog isn’t just about loving people and collecting belly rubs. It’s about being respectful, recognizing what’s happening around me, and helping others feel comfortable.

Although, between you and me… I still think belly rubs should count as extra credit! 😂💚

Now if you’ll excuse me, all this studying has worn me out. I need to go practice my advanced relaxation skills. 😴🐾

Sniff you Later,

🐾 Tart Talk 🐾

Hi friends, it’s me — Tart! 🐶💚

Today’s adventure: practicing my future therapy dog skills at the EYEGLASSES STORE! 👓🐾

My human checked that it was okay for me to visit first, and then I got to practice being calm, polite, and relaxed in a new environment. As you can see, I was really keeping an eye on things! 😂👀

But did you know there’s a difference between Therapy Dogs, Assistance Dogs, and Emotional Support Animals? 🐶❤️

🐾 THERAPY DOGS (like the path I’m training for!) visit places like hospitals, schools, and care facilities to bring comfort and connection to MANY people. They work with their handlers and need appropriate training and evaluation.

🦮 ASSISTANCE DOGS are trained to help a person with a disability by performing specific tasks. They’re working for their individual handler, not visiting everyone for pets!

❤️ EMOTIONAL SUPPORT ANIMALS provide comfort through companionship to their person. They don’t require specialized task training, and they don’t automatically have the same public-access rights as service dogs.

Three different roles, all special in their own way! 🐾

My job right now is to keep learning, practice my manners, and prepare for my Pet Partners therapy dog evaluation. Every new place is an opportunity to build confidence and learn how to be a good community visitor.

And if you’re wondering whether I enjoyed my practice session…

Just look at me! Calm, comfortable, and ready to make new friends. 🥰

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I think I deserve a new pair of glasses. I’m clearly going to need them for all the important work ahead! 🤓😂

Sniff you Later,
Tart 🐾💚
