It's that time of the year, the holidays are fast approaching! 🎄

It can be so hard to pick and choose a gift for each individual on your list. We all just want to get something for our loved ones that shows how much we appreciate them, something that they'll love as much as we love them! But running between stores trying to get each thing done, not to mention wrapping each one, can be such a pain and hard to find the time for in our increasingly busy schedules.

Why not get them hand crafted soap?! At Barks and Bubbles, we have smaller sample sized soaps that would be perfect for a small gift to a colleague, a stocking stuffer item, or an addition to a well-deserved self-care kit. They can come shaped as mermaid tails or teddy bears and can have a customized base, scent, and color. Do you know how to use a bar of soap?!

🫧 Use warm water rather than hot.
-Not only is this better for your skin, but it's better for your soap too! Overly hot water can reduce the lather of your soap and make your bar shrink faster.

🫧 Lather up.
-For hand washing, you should rub your hands with the bar of soap for at least 20 seconds. For body washing, rub the bar of soap directly on your washcloth or loofah until a nice lather is formed before applying the lather to your skin. Make sure you use a clean washcloth each time, or if you use a loofah, rinse it well under warm water after use and hang it to dry.

🫧 Dry your soap.
-Bars of soap don't harbor growth of pathogens, but the leftover water on it can! Make sure you're patting your bar of soap dry after use. The best way to store it is on a sponge in a soap dish with ventilation to absorb excess moisture. This means storing your bar of soap on a ledge in the shower is not the best practice to keep it germ free!

🫧 Cut your soap.
-The average bar of soap will last about 6 weeks with typical use, but cutting it into smaller pieces and using those can help stretch that timeline!

🫧 Moisturize.
-Many bars of soap strip your skin of its natural oils and moisture, causing your skin to feel dry and tight. Dry skin can be easier for pathogens to invade! Be sure to apply lotion or other moisturizer after using a bar of soap. At Barks and Bubbles, we use soaps that have additional moisturizers in them, such as coconut oil, which can reduce this drying sensation.

I've lived on O'ahu for 5 years, and in that time I have volunteered in and donated to multiple Marine Corps and local organizations.

Base: Honey
Color: shimmery pink
Scent profile: earthy citrus
Properties: Felted soap is like a loofah with soap built in! Roving wool is known for its antimicrobial properties, so this bar will resist mold growth. The honey base will moisturize the skin, and copaiba oil is known for reducing joint discomfort in people and dogs.

Ingredients:
Roving wool
Honey soap base
Sweet orange essential oil
Atlas cedarwood essential oil
Copaiba essential oil
