At this time last year Faith and I were dealing with laminitis (limping affliction with the hooves which could cause death ), the eruption of a huge lump under her back right leg and several others underneath her neck by her lymph nodes and more that developed under her front right legs and chest. After 3 biopsies, and a lot of $$ to find this, the results came back that she was afflicted with Lymphoma Cancer. I was given no alternative treatment except a $1000 ultrasound to see if it spread into her abdomen OR chemotherapy which could possibly kill her. I did my OWN research reaching out to my birth country of England and found a site about Cancer in horses. I thank my friend there who personally shared her story of a white pony with huge lumps on the outside of his body. He lived for 8 more years using vitamins, supplements and teas. I further got help from my friend who helped curb cancer in her digs by using anti cancer agents that are holistic in nature. Combining this information with what I researched, I have combined multiple vitamins ( C, E, B12, D3, K4) along with Rosemary and Cleaver ( lymphatic support herbs from England) also using tumeric for inflammation, sh*ttake mushrooms , Sand Clear pellets to make sure she doesn't colic from sand ingestion, a natural Fly Pellet mix to eradicate flies, a $48 feed called Omega Match ( to be sure she has her omegas and to mix the vitamins and supplements in) and also changing from Timothy Hay to Tifton which is much lower in sugar. All of these things have kept her fairly free from pain ( I have something for that too if needed) . Her coat, hair and skin look good and her hooves are very healthy now following strict regimens to get them back on track. That required two sets of boots totalling $450, plus Koppertox fluid, and daily hoof care. Icing her hooves 2-3 times daily for 2 weeks. We've come a long way baby and have a longer way to go. Always looking for new holistic ways to fight this Cancer and appreciate everything everyone has done and donated to her welfare. I know she had this when I first rescued her in 2019 because there was a black lump in between her back legs then. I now recognize this as a form of Cancer called a sarcoid. With lots of TLC, continued care and information, I hope to keep her alive as long as I possibly can. I was told Lymphatic Cancer would kill her within four months last May. We are beating the odds. God is great. And we are on our fifth year if voluntarily equine therapy with The Children's Health and Mentoring Program. I offered lessons up until last year. I still ride her as does my Great Niece Olivia. Don't let your disabilities define you and do everything in your power to live a good life. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Keep smiling and keep the Faith!!!
