🌼 Mia: The Shy Chihuahua with a Heart of Gold

Mia may be a bit shy at first, but once she warms up to you, she’s all in. This little Chihuahua is incredibly loyal and once she’s attached, she’s your best friend for life—protective, loving, and ready to do anything for the person she calls her own.

While Mia can take her time getting comfortable with other dogs, she did beautifully in her foster home with six dogs of all sizes—ranging from 4 pounds to 80 pounds. She was completely house trained, never once having an accident during her three weeks in foster care. She’s also a crate lover—content, quiet, and calm when it’s time for her to relax in her cozy space. Mia is happiest sleeping either in bed with her person or curled up in a soft dog bed next to the bed.

💙 Foster Friday Spotlight: The Decio Family 💙

This week, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on Brianne Decio, a dedicated Realtor with RE/MAX on the Bay in Niantic, and her wonderful family! Along with Noelle and their two boys (ages 8 and 9), the Decio family dove into fostering with open hearts, taking in SEVEN dogs at once—including a mama dog with her nursing puppies and two 8-week-old rescues. Talk about dedication! 🐾

“We felt a deep pull to help homeless pets and knew we wanted to do something that truly mattered. Because our boys came to us through foster care, this journey has opened up the most meaningful conversations about love, commitment, and new beginnings. They’ve learned that even temporary love can change lives—and that adoption means forever. Riley has such a gentle heart—he’s happiest when he’s surrounded by puppies, snuggled right up with them. Joe has become our little helper, guiding the pups with patience, teaching them to walk on a leash, and taking such pride in helping them grow. It’s been beautiful to watch our family grow through this experience. One of the most special moments was seeing the mama dog transform—from uncertain and delicate to joyful and relaxed, finally able to just be a dog. I heard about All Paws on Deck through a friend and immediately felt connected to the mission. With a fenced-in yard, a walk-out basement, and a whole lot of love to give, our home became a safe haven. Now, I help at adoption events and look forward to getting even more involved in future fundraising. Fostering has been a gift—for us, and for every dog we’ve had the chance to love.”

🚨 We Need Fosters – Can You Help? 🚨

We’re in urgent need of foster families to step up and help save lives. More dogs are coming into our rescue, and sadly, we’re losing some of our fosters to moves and foster fails. 🐾

Without your help, we can’t give these dogs the love and care they need while they wait for their forever homes. Fostering isn’t just about giving a dog a temporary home—it’s about making a difference, one life at a time.

But what about your concerns? We’ve got you covered!

1. “I’ll get too attached and won’t be able to give them up.”
💖 That’s a real possibility! And it’s okay—many fosters end up adopting their foster dog (a.k.a. “foster fail”). But even if you do say goodbye, you’re making a huge difference in a dog’s life and giving them the love they need until they find their perfect family. 🏡

2. “I don’t have experience.”
👩‍🏫 No problem! We offer full support and guidance through the whole fostering process. You’re never alone.

3. “What if my pets don’t get along with the foster dog?”
🐕🐱 We’ll help you find the right match and ensure a good fit for your household.

4. “I don’t have a fenced yard.”
🚶‍♀️ That’s fine! Leashes work just as well for walks and bathroom breaks.

5. “I work full-time.”
🕒 Many dogs are okay being alone for a while. We’ll match you with a dog that fits your schedule.

6. “I’m afraid I’ll get stuck with a foster that doesn’t fit in my household.”
💬 If your foster isn’t a good fit, you’re never stuck! We’ll relocate the dog within 24 hours to ensure everyone is happy.
