After much reflection and with heavy hearts, we’re officially closing the doors of Boggy’s Buddies. 💔
In our time open, we helped 137 animals find their homes, second chances, and new beginnings. Guinea pigs, rats, hedgehogs, and even reptiles — each one came with a story, and each one left with love. We adopted to local families and met out-of-state adopters halfway. We drove hours to intake animals in need, and we never said no without first making sure they had a safe place to land. 🌱
Some of those 137 never made it to adoption — but they still made it to safety. Some crossed the rainbow bridge with us holding them, when no one else could afford to or bear the heartbreak. Some retired into the arms of volunteers who made sure their final months were full of comfort and peace. And some stayed with us until their very last breath — whether we were expecting days or months. That’s rescue, too. 💫
What many don’t see is the side of rescue we lived daily. People often assume it doesn’t take much to help the little guys — but this is hard work. It’s emotional, exhausting, and often carried by just a few. We gave everything we had, and while our hearts remain committed, our time, funds, and capacity have reached their limit.
We hope to return one day — when we’re rested, ready, and better resourced. Until then, we’re focused on finding loving homes for our last three hedgehogs: Jackpot, Blooper, and Sylvie. They’re still waiting for their forever magic. 🦔
