Sobolewski Horsemanship at Divergent Stables, LLC Diverse Training & Lessons:English & Western riding-Liberty-Eventing-Mustang Gentling-Clinics & Demos

Divergent Stables, LLC is a low-key horse training and lessoning operation, owned by Paulina Sobolewski. My goal is to pass along the knowledge I gained over the years and continue to further educate myself to better my horses and students/clients. My program is altered to focus on clients individual demands and to help achieve those goals set for their horses. I thrive to help students successful

ly and safely handle, work at liberty, and/or ride their chosen discipline. My focused topics are Liberty, Eventing, bridleless riding, performing, colt starting, gentling mustangs, groundwork control, trailer issues, tune-ups & restarts.

Our last session before he headed home, Gilbert started to trust and allow me to work around him at a normal pace. This boy was pretty reactive and would bolt off. Don't get me wrong, he still was tense, but he made better decisions when pressure was present.

Consistency is the key with these more nervous mustangs and a routine session helps them put their guard down. Gilbert still has some ways to go, but there is lots of try in this mustang.

Gilbert video 2🌾

Continuing his development by stepping into the bigger ring to ask bigger questions. Owner also wanted to see if this boy can jump, and safe to say, he can.

Mazikeen and I competed in only our second show together today—our first was way back in 2021! This was also my first time riding WDAA (Western Dressage Association) tests. I've been working on helping Maze become more relaxed in a bit at home, but some of that anxiety crept back in today. She settled much better in the bosal for our second test and showed some really nice moments.

Every outing is a learning experience, and this one was no exception. It highlighted both the progress we've made and the areas that still need work. Overall, I'm proud of this mustang and grateful for a productive day that gave us a clear roadmap for what to focus on moving forward.

Bonus was the nice compliments she was receiving while at the show

Gilbert the mustang🌾 pt.1
This boy finished his time with me a few weeks back. Gilbert was still very tense about a human above him so we did not get to the first ride during his short stay with me. I didn’t feel it was wise to push him just for the sake to get on and potentially getting one or both of us hurt. As well as possibly setting him back in his progression. He’s one that needs a little more time and showing up for him with consistency. Instead, we focused on not bolting when pressure is applied, first bridling, long lining, faster movement around him, mounting block, getting hosed down, and picking hooves.

Last weekend we attended the New Jersey Horse Park Trials 1. We had a decent dressage, and a great XC run, but I definitely feel like I let Puppet down in show jumping. I rode her deep into one fence and it went down hill from there on my end.
Mistakes happen and learning experiences come from those. Looking forward to improving my errors šŸ’ŖšŸ¼

Welcoming Echo, a 4yr old mustang mare.
Her owner got her as a 2yr old, did all the ground work and started her undersaddle a little to put some of the basics on, but Echo is here to get a bit more consistency. We will work on long lining, patience, and ridden work.

The barn has been oddly quiet the last two days and that’s because someone isn’t here!
Our sweet Echo (who is best known for her drum solos on every and any gate) is off to school.
We dropped her off to Sobolewski Horsemanship at Divergent Stables, LLC Friday morning and she’ll remain in training with Paulina until mid August.
This frees up some training time here to focus on the two new girls we got in without taking time away from Echo. She’s too nice of a mare to keep putting on the back burner!
I miss her so much but am so excited to see what her and Paulina can do in their time together
