Reminders ahead of check-in on Saturday! 🐴
*IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE MANDATORY HORSE CHECK-IN & EQUISTEP TRAINING on MAY 16th* 🍀🐴
Reminder that the Mandatory Horse Check-In & EquiSTEP Training is scheduled for Saturday, May 16th starting at 9:00 AM. Exhibitors should plan to arrive at 9:00 AM and stay until approximately 1:00 PM. A light lunch will be provided by the 4-H horse committee for all horse exhibitors.
Please follow the purple line on the map below. All trailers should enter through the campgrounds gate (gate 4) and park their trailers in the area next to the horse arena. All horses should remain at their trailers upon arrival!
Please park your vehicle in the designated area and walk to the check-in table at the horse arena announcers stand. Here you will turn in your Horse Registration & ID Forms, Leasing Forms, proof of Coggins, and your $10 exhibitor fee.
At the check-in table you will receive a number. Your number will be called over the PA system. Once your number is called, you may bring your horse to the veterinarian’s station. There will be signs and volunteers to direct you where to go. At the veterinarian’s station, horses will be Coggins tested ($50 fee)(unless proof of Coggins is submitted ahead of time) and receive their body condition scoring.
Coggins Testing will be available at the Mandatory Horse Check-In & EquiSTEP Training for $50.00 by a veterinarian. Please bring payment and Coggins Testing Form. Coggins testing can be completed ahead of time by your own veterinarian (test results are good for 12 months), however, proof of Coggins MUST be turned in before or during the Mandatory Horse Check-In & EquiSTEP Training. Proof can be emailed to Maddie Allman at [email protected] for filing.
4-H Online photos of horses can also be submitted by exhibitors ahead of the Horse Check-In. Log into 4-H Online and submit information under the Animals tab. Or we can take them at the check-in.
Once vet checked, exhibitors may stall their horses in the Horse Barn and proceed to the Livestock Office pavilion where they will register their classes in FairEntry and begin the mandatory EquiSTEP training. A reminder that just as Quality Assurance training is mandatory to complete for livestock projects to be exhibited at the county fair, EquiSTEP training is mandatory for all 4-H horse exhibitors exhibiting horses at the fair. 4-H'ers must make every effort to attend the training as this is the ONLY in-person opportunity.
An educational clinic will be led by Ohio 4-H Horse Show Judge, Kay Tracey. Everyone should plan to stay for the educational clinic, it's going to be a good one! At the conclusion of the clinic, exhibitors may open ride in the arena.
The Jackson County 4-H Horse Program is growing! We appreciate your patience as we work to streamline the check-in process and make these important adjustments to the structure and organization of the day. We hope that this will be a day of learning and education for all of our horse exhibitors!
