I hate to make this post, but it’s a decision we have not come to lightly.
Unfortunately, we are looking to possibly rehome Zoe, the beautiful kitty Per (my husband) rescued from his work last year, because tensions between Zoe and the other cats have really escalated. They do NOT get along. Zoe really (except once) has not left our bathroom in a year. She does NOT like other cats. And lately there have been bad fights that keep getting worse. Keeping them separated has been a struggle, to say the least. We love her, but she is not happy like this. 😞
Zoe is “okay” with the dogs. She “likes” Otto (our dachshund) the most and will let him sniff her or touch noses with him, because he wants to be her friend so badly. She would probably be “okay”with Sophie, (our Shih Tzu) too. (“Okay” is tolerant at best.) I think if you had one or two small, cat friendly, respectful, and/or well trained dogs, she would be alright eventually. But cats seem definitely out. She hates all of them. (Or all of ours.) She needs to be an only cat. 😢
She has a spicy personality, and can be very sweet, but overall, she’s still very scared from her time as a stray, which I presume is why she hates other cats so much. She does like being with/around you, but too much petting kind of overstimulates her into attack mode sometimes.
TLDR; Zoe needs a new home with no other cats. Small, cat friendly dogs would probably be okay. But she hates other cats. She is about a 1.5 yrs old, spayed, litter box trained, and will be up to date on all shots before she goes to her new home. If you or anyone you know might be interested, please message me!
