PLEASE keep your cats indoors!

🚨🚨🚨Bobcat Fever is running rampant in Missouri! Here at Shelter Friends, we have already lost SO many innocent kitties to this horrible disease! The onset is quick and deadly and has a 90-95% fatality rate, even with treatment!! Just last night we lost a gorgeous calico baby kitten in mid MO to this horrific disease. 😿

🧪The meds are hard to get. You have to go to a human pharmacy. By the time you get them your cat is dead. 😭😭😭

‼️THE BEST PREVENTATIVE IS TO KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS!!!

🩺But, if you even think your cat may have this disease, get him/her to the vet IMMEDIATELY if you see these symptoms. Ticks are MOSTLY outside but CAN come in on clothes, etc., and will stay in your house and bite your other cats. We know of one family who has already lost TWO of their precious cats to Bobcat fever cuz the tick stayed inside the house!! 💔💔💔

📢 Don't miss it! Five Acres Animal Shelter is hosting our last low-cost Vaccine & Microchip Clinic until September this Saturday, June 20, from 9:00–11:30 a.m.

📍 IMPORTANT: The clinic will be held at the Academy of Pet Careers (3550 West Clay Street, St. Charles) — NOT at Five Acres Animal Shelter.

💉 Services are just $20 each:
• Rabies vaccine
• Distemper vaccine
• Bordetella vaccine (for kennel cough – dogs only)
• Microchipping

📌 Cash only • First-come, first-served • Drive-thru service

🐶 Dogs must be leashed
🐱 Cats must be in carriers

As we prepare to open our doors, we're excited to introduce a key member of our team. While we don't have an official opening date to announce just yet, we're making great progress and will share the exciting news as soon as we do!

Kristin brings more than 20 years of experience in animal welfare. Since joining Wags & Whiskers, she has been working behind the scenes to help prepare for our opening and ensure we're ready to provide the best possible care for the pets who will come through our doors.

We're thrilled to have Kristin's knowledge, leadership, and dedication as part of the Wags & Whiskers family and can't wait for our community to get to know her.
