Bronwen's Art & Stuff

Bronwen's Art & Stuff I'm nerdy, and I like it. Sometimes I make stuff. I sell some of it in my Etsy shop. Inclusive feminist af. Now occasionally featuring cats!

I've always loved to make things, especially for other people. Over the years, the amount of ideas I have for things to make has grown much larger than the amount of friends and relatives I have to make them for. With this shop, I hope that means I can make some wonderful things for the wonderful people out in the world, too! My spare bedroom has become my studio space where the creativity happens

. I went to school for graphic design, but I love to do much more than just that. I especially love watercolors, but I also sew and draw and create things with paper and really anything that inspires me. I love to experiment with techniques and materials, and sometimes the most satisfying thing is knowing you made something old into something new again. Here, you will find updates about what I'm up to, and more often updates about my Etsy shop. I'm just starting out, but I hope you'll stick around and watch me grow!

Happy !
I attempted to do some mermaid makeup, but the pinks and greens and golds I chose don't pick up on camera very well. It's cute and quirky but kinda doesn't read mermaid. Oh well, at least it was fun practice ♡

I recently finished rewatching 30 Rock. Here's a little doodle of a crosstitch I wish existed.

Another old sketchbook drawing done at the same time as my last post. I decided to actually show what I started with six years ago to compare. It was rough, but I've come a long way. Feet are so hard in perspective!

Another old sketchbook find that I decided to use for perspective practice. The feet were the worst of it, but they look pretty decent now.

Today's drawing was inspired by a prompt I found early in the month from http://artprompts.org: Medusa tries a new hairstyle (or something like that). I very quickly imagined this pun on teasing, and I'm so excited to finally draw it!

[Image: A comic panel with text at the top that says 'Medusa teases her hair.' The drawing below is of Medusa pointing and looking up at her hair (which is made up of very sad snakes) and a speech bubble that says 'How do you measure a snake? In inches, they don't have feet!']

I quick colored my Inktober drawing from yesterday. Those C + A buttons are so distinctive, it's only fitting.

Turns out I saved the post I made about the dream that inspired yesterday's Inktober prompt (see below)! I forgot about the C buttons from the N64 controller being on the ocarina, and it made me laugh.

"I had a pretty hilarious dream last night (for once), too. I was at Hogwarts, but Hogwarts was a temple in Hyrule. There were four doors, one for each House, but there was an ocarina song written on each door. I was in charge of playing the songs to open the door for each House, because there was a mission for each House to complete behind each one. When I got to the Slytherin door, I couldn't see the song anymore, so I tried to play it from memory but I couldn't get it quite right. Then the Head of Slytherin (who was Voldemort, and no one questioned this) came over and got angry about the delay. He said we should duel, so I pulled out my Hylian sheild and the master sword and he shot me with an energy blast, kamehameha style. I got thrown back against a wall, but when the blast stopped, I rushed around behind him and stabbed him in his secret eye on his back (that SO many Zelda bosses have), then picked up the heart container after he died. Oh, and the ocarina had yellow c button arrows like on a N64 controller. I didn't actually play it."

Another crossover I found in my sketchbook from long, long ago! This one I got discouraged about because I couldn't get the perspective right on this pose, so that was my main focus on reworking it. I threw on some color because the concept doesn't read very strongly without it.
This was actually based on a hilarious dream I had! It involved playing songs on an ocarina in order to open doors to the different Hogwarts houses, then fighting Voldemort by hitting the classic Zelda boss eye on his back.

[Image: Drawing of Voldemort with a big, bright orange/yellow eye on his back, looking over his shoulder with an angry expression and a raised clenched fist. The background is a faded pink oval surrounded by dark blue.]

Inktober really got away from me last week, but I'm getting back into it now!
This was a sketch I started foreverrrrr ago and got discouraged because it wasn't as good as I was picturing it in my head. I flipped past it in my sketchbook and decided to stick it out. Inktober's all about practice anyhow, right?
So, this was a crossover idea between the zelda game Spirit Tracks and the Full Metal Alchemist anime. The parts when Zelda's spirit inhabits the armor always gave me a FMA vibe.
