Abe aka Big Country 🤠
Good ole boy that is potty trained, easily crated, and just the biggest friendly goofball with adults and kids. He’s an older guy, maybe 10ish, but will play with younger dogs here and keep up.
Abe is SMART. He loves adventure. He possesses the capability to burst out an opening door or gate, and will test fences if he’s bored. If you show him the rules, and enforce them routinely he is easily managed and a really delightful dude.
He is housed with other dogs here at SOAR and does well with proper intros.
His backstory? Abe found himself at IACS in kinda rough condition, and we simply couldn’t resist his charm when we met him there. So we loaded him into the van and brought him to our facility. Since he’s been here his hair has grown in, he’s had some dental work done and a couple lumps removed. Now our Big Country is ready to ride off into the sunset with you. Sound like a match? Mini polar bears anyone?? 😂 George and Marshmallow are the only two puppies left from the litter of eight that we had. They were born January 14th and are ready to find their new families! These boys are playful, friendly, and well socialized with people and kids. They’ve met other dogs and puppies as well. George is a little bigger than his brother, and he has a rougher coat and a stripe on his nose. He’s rough and tumble, typical puppy. Marshmallow has a soft coat and pays lots of attention to people, he uses lots of eye contact. Both are great dogs. They are adoptable from SOAR: Street Outreach Animal Response Initiative

ADOPTED!!!!!!!

Let’s talk about Mister Handsome. He’s young (1ish?), small, very social, and good with other dogs and respectful of cats. In fact we would prefer that he is adopted to a home with another dog, as he gets really lonely when all by himself. Handsome loves to play ball and enjoys jumping gracefully over our agility equipment without anyone even asking him to do it. He can jump onto countertops with ease as well 😂He adores kids, really loves their energy, and drops and shares his toys nicely. Handsome could use work on basic obedience and potty training, but since he’s food and toy motivated asking him to learn new things is a lot of fun for him. There’s plenty of energy in this little body, he will play hard! But handsome is also an expert cuddler and super duper soft and floppy when tired. And look at that face!!!! Seriously!!! It’s been awhile since I’ve posted here, but Freddie deserves all the press he can get. I love him. Not just saying it, I’ve tried to rationalize bringing him home with me a thousand ways, but it likely won’t work. We would like Freddie to be an only dog. He has lived with cats in the past. He ADORES people. All people. Loves kids. Cuddling and giving kisses is his go to. If you sit down, he may just climb into your lap and plant one on your mouth, ear, cheek, whatever he can get! He isn’t super active, likes to play ball, help with yard work, or putter around outside with you. He just wants company. Human(s) to love.

SOAR is currently housing 11 dogs and at least 15 cats in the animal care building. But it’s usually quiet. All of the dogs go out to potty and play, then are happy to run back to their rooms. They know the routine, and are content with their setup and care. Plus they have an army of volunteers that come to see them all week long! Here is a behind the scenes look at a typical afternoon here.

Thank you to Duchess for giving us the tour 😂. She is going to be fostered with one of our awesome volunteers soon, I’m super excited for her!

50 and I joined some friends for a pack walk today! We met at fountain square and made our way to Metazoa Brewing Company. He loved just about every dog and human that we met, and was a total social butterfly. I was really impressed with how at ease he is in crowds, and on busy sidewalks. After about 3 miles he was ready to pass out in the car. I’ve never actually seen him fall asleep before 😂
50 gets super cuddly when he is tired. It’s adorable, and worth the effort to wear him out.

Good things come in small packages ❤️ Selena came to us because her human did not have a safe place for her to stay. He found her as a stray, cared for her needs, and though he loved her very much, his housing situation was not ideal for a cat. So Selena came to us. She was a little spicy when she got here, plenty of cattitude if you will lol. Spay surgery definitely changed that though. Selena is now cuddly and happy to play with the other cats. She loves to explore new places we make for her in the pink room, and is drawn to the dust pan for some reason 😂
I love getting pictures of her, black cats are so photogenic, and she has a delicate beauty to her.
