Healing Hearts & Hooves, Inc ~ List of Services
Healing Hearts & Hooves, Inc is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that offers various equine assisted types of therapy and support for people struggling with life and its challenges. They have an innate and unique ability to be sensitive to humans, their feelings and subtle changes in us and the environment. Horses are honest and offer unconditio
nal love. They act as a mirror to our emotions and provide honest, direct feedback. A horse doesn’t lie about how it feels, or disguise what it says. You will always get the truth from a horse. Horses will help to provide you a better understanding on how you are really feeling. Our instructors will help you understand the horse’s communication, and how to interact with them. We offer a unique insight to the world of horses and will help you understand more about yourself, your feelings and your emotions. We want the horse not to look past us, but to look for us. We want for our horses no just to be part of our lives, but for us to be part of theirs. We want not just to ride our horses, but for our horses to carry us. We will not let them do whatever they want, but discourage the wrong ideas, and encourage the right ones. How can we positively influence our horses so they want us to be part of their lives? So they don’t just tolerate us, but they choose to be with us. Below is a list of our offerings. Be sure to discuss your needs with us to help select the best option for your healing. Healing Horsemanship – Participants will learn all about taking care of horses. These will be mounted and unmounted sessions. Our goal is for you to learn to become independent with horses. You will learn how to feed, brush, clean water tanks, pick up manure, and about hoof care. You will learn how horses interact with each other and you. You will learn how to identify the slightest try from your horse, and how to respond to that slightest try. You will learn how to show your horse that you care and how to establish and build relationships with horses. This is an important step toward bonding with and building trust between you and the horse. You will learn about tack, the importance of saddle fit and selecting the correct bridle and bit to support your communication with your horse. Communication on the ground transfers to the saddle. All of this preparation will help you obtain a safe and positive mounted experience with your horse. We will show you how to properly sit on a horse and how to follow them when they move. One of the hardest things to learn is how to stay out of the horse’s way while you ride. Learning in a safe and healing environment will provide therapy to you in a wide range of areas, without you even realizing it is happening! These sessions can be one on one or up to groups of three. Equine Facilitated Learning – EFL is designed to help individuals increase their life skill effectiveness. Communication, self-awareness, respect, honesty and trust are all things that can be focused on in an EFL session. These sessions can be one on one or in a group. They are unmounted sessions and work to improve your communication with the world and yourself. Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy – EFP is a session with a licensed metal healthcare professional utilizing the unique skills of the horse. This is a fantastic alternative to the typical office setting that can be inhibiting and unbeneficial to some. Incorporating the reflective strengths of the horse to help an individual identify subtle and unspoken communication is truly amazing. These sessions will be one on one, and can be charged to insurance as they are provided by a licensed professional. Healing Hearts & Hooves, Inc ~ List of Services, continued
