Thanks to all of my clients for being patient while we are on vacation. Today my wife and I stumbled into the Household Cavalry Museum a short walk from Buckingham Palace. You can buy used shoes for 15 British pounds. Also thought y’all might want to read about a handy piece of ceremonial kit they have called a “farrier’s axe.” A bit grim but interesting.

The foot in the foreground had been reset a week before by a different farrier after the client had said she was concerned the horse had too much toe and was becoming uncomfortable. We can’t always do everything a client wants and sometimes styles just don’t mesh but never be afraid to ask questions and have your farrier explain what they are doing and why.

Nearly 60 shoes all still attached to the original hooves circa 1890s. All hand made by a farrier from Chartres, France. One of the coolest collections I've seen for none other than the hooves are on everyone of them!
