If you’re in Colorado right now, you know just how intense this heat wave has been—and Havoc, our two-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier, has been feeling it too!

That’s why he got to enjoy a day in the pool. During his pool time, Havoc discovered something he loves just as much as the water: the hose! Equal parts curious and playful, he was completely fascinated by it. Instead of splashing around in the pool, he spent most of his time chasing, investigating, and playing with the hose—and it was absolutely adorable to watch.

Havoc is an incredibly sweet boy with a fun-loving personality that will keep you smiling every day. He’s available for adoption at our Peyton, Colorado campus and is ready to bring plenty of love, laughter, and companionship to a loving home.

Why do we do what we do?

These photos show the same dogs at two very different moments in their lives. The first images were taken shortly after rescue. The second were shared by the families who opened their hearts and homes to them.

The transformation goes far beyond appearances.

It is the look in their eyes. The confidence. The comfort. The joy. The feeling of finally belonging.

Every rescue begins with uncertainty. A dog arrives in a new place, surrounded by unfamiliar sights, sounds, and people. There is healing to be done, trust to be built, and a future yet to be written.

Then something incredible happens.

Someone chooses them.

They become hiking buddies, couch companions, road trip partners, neighborhood celebrities, bedtime snugglers, and cherished members of a family. They discover toys, adventures, routines, and the simple comfort of being loved.

Rescue isn’t always easy. There are challenges, heartbreaks, long days, and difficult moments.

New faces have arrived at Dogsville! ❤️

These sweet dogs have just begun their journey at our Humansville, Missouri campus, and while they may be safe now, they still have a few important steps ahead before they’re ready to find families of their own.

Most of the dogs you’ll see in this video are not yet available for adoption. They still need to be spayed or neutered, receive veterinary care, and be medically cleared before they can head home.

For now, they’re settling in, learning their new surroundings, and discovering what it means to be cared for.

Since opening our Missouri campus, you’ve helped us build something truly special at Dogsville. You’ve welcomed new arrivals, celebrated adoptions, followed healing journeys, and helped shine a light on dogs who deserved to be seen.

As National Mill Dog Rescue continues to grow, we’ve made the decision to bring all of our storytelling together in one place.

Beginning today, we will start transitioning Dogsville content to our original National Mill Dog Rescue social media channels. By combining our audiences, we’ll be able to reach more adopters, engage more supporters, and help even more dogs find the loving homes they deserve.

Most importantly, this exciting next chapter means you’ll be able to follow all of the incredible growth happening at Dogsville right alongside the stories from our Colorado campus. Stella is a nine-year-old German Shepherd beauty tipping the scales at a very dignified 68 pounds. She's got the kind of calm, docile temperament that makes you want to sit down next to her, exhale deeply, and just be. Honestly, she might be more zen than most humans you know.

Now, Stella is a girl who appreciates the finer things in life — your undivided attention, a cozy spot by your side, and the reassurance that yes, she is, in fact, a very good girl. (She is. She absolutely is.)

That said, Stella is also a sensitive soul who likes to ease into new things on her own timeline. New environments? New people? New experiences? She'd prefer to take those at a comfortable pace, thank you very much. Think of her less as a "jump in with both paws" kind of gal and more of a "let's get acquainted properly" type. She's not being difficult — she's just refined.

One non-negotiable for Miss Stella: she needs a confident canine roommate. Other dogs are her security system, her comfort crew, her hype squad. A meet-and-greet at the shelter will be required to make sure everyone vibes before she makes her grand entrance into her dream home.

Gary is a 12-pound Miniature Poodle with enough energy to power an entire neighborhood. If you’re looking for a dog who loves to play, explore, and stay active, Gary is ready to apply for the job.

This friendly, outgoing boy approaches life at full speed. He loves attention, adores people, and is always eager to see what exciting thing might happen next. Whether he’s investigating something new, racing around the yard, or trying to convince you that playtime should never end, Gary brings enthusiasm to everything he does.

Because of his high energy level, Gary will need a home that can provide plenty of exercise and opportunities to stay busy. A large yard, regular adventures, and lots of active play would be right up his alley. He’s not the type to spend all day lounging on the couch—he’s ready to get out there and live life.

Gary loves other dogs, but his enthusiasm can be a bit much for more reserved canine companions. He would do best with an energetic dog friend who enjoys wrestling, chasing, and playing as much as he does.

The wait is over for these Dogsville residents!

Kobe, Gary, Oreo Cookie, Millie, Angel, Momo, Myrtle, Bryson, Rocket, Binx, Parker, Showlow, Pistol, Foxy, Amee, Hero, and Luke are now officially available for adoption at our Dogsville campus in Humansville, Missouri.

These dogs have completed their spay and neuter surgeries, received the veterinary care they needed, and have been medically cleared to begin searching for families of their own.

Some are outgoing. Some are a little shy. Some are still discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer. But every one of them is ready for the next chapter.

Meet Luke – A Loyal Companion Ready to Love Again

Luke is a seven-year-old Heeler mix with a gentle heart and the kind of loyal nature that makes him impossible not to love. This sweet boy came to Dogsville after the heartbreaking loss of his owner, and while his world has changed, he’s still holding onto hope for a new beginning.

Luke is friendly, housebroken, and loves going for leash walks, happily trotting alongside his people while taking in the world around him. He has a calm, loving presence and seems happiest simply being near those he trusts.

There’s something incredibly special about Luke. He’s the kind of dog who has already known what it means to be part of a family, and he’s ready to share that same devotion again with someone willing to open their heart to him.

Luke would thrive in a home with older children who can appreciate his gentle nature and enjoy spending time with him. He also does best with canine companions his own size or larger. Because of his instincts and preferences, a home without small animals will help set him up for success and allow him to relax and be his best self.
