Iris is the cutest little pocket pittie with ears for days. She has the best temperament - calm and easy going but down for whatever! Once I discovered she loved to play fetch it was game over. She fetches and drops the ball right at your feet and would play all day if you’d let her! It was hot outside so she seemed to understand when I would force her to take breaks and she’d happily sit right next to me for pets. Her personality reminded me of one of our fosters (Nani) so I really cherished the time I spent with Iris.

Opal is a little bowling ball of fun. She wants to do whatever you’re doing, she’s definitely got a case of FOMO. She ran around the run able to keep herself occupied while still checking back in to make sure she wasn’t missing out on anything. After she was done she came and sat down right next to me on the bench and was content to just hang out together. Opal is a true gem.

Blade has the biggest puppy dog eyes that just plead for you to take him out. He is incredibly well behaved in his kennel and that’s why he’s been at BARC so long! He is still just a big puppy with some energy to burn off and is a little jumpy. The best way I can describe blade is that he’s squishy. He’s so cute you just wanna squish his face and cuddle him! Blade has a big personality and will keep you laughing, he stood on his very tippy toes to drink out of a water bucket on a hot day and just cracked me up. Blade deserves a softer life than the hand that he was dealt.

🆘 PETEY is on the euthanasia list SATURDAY 6/6 🆘

I was wondering when this very good boy was going to finally hit the euth list - he's had one of the longest length of stays at the shelter that I've seen so I know he's been an absolute angel! I'm actually so surprised that he hasn't been adopted yet but that's a big loss for any adopter who walked by his kennel 🤷🏻‍♀️ Petey is a handsome boy with the biggest, most expressive eyes. I met him during his first few days at the shelter so he was pretty nervous and just wanted to crawl around in the grass. He seemed to be most confident standing at the fenceline next to his friend Barney. But despite being nervous, he was a super sweet boy who wanted affection. He would get up and crawl over to me for pets and cuddles, and on his temp test with another dog he kept checking in with me when he got too nervous. I saw Petey a week later when another volunteer had him out and he was so much braver and would confidently approach the other dogs! I can only imagine how much he's going to blossom once he's out of the shelter. This is a really good boy and I'm hoping he can safely make it out of the shelter, he deserves the absolute world 🌎

Aliza stopped me in my tracks walking the ward because she has the best puppy dog eyes that just lure you in! Outside she was a pawtyyyy, she didn’t have time to sit still for pics she had things to do! She was so happy to be outside and she didn’t care what that entailed. She ran the fence line with other pups, played fetch, convinced me to give her all my treats, and convinced other people to give her all the attention! She would’ve happily stayed outside all day if I let her. On her TT she met a very shy and timid dog and I think Aliza understood the assignment and in return toned it down and gave the puppy space and time to be interested.

I met belle when she only had 30 minutes until her euthanasia deadline and I didn’t want her last day to be spent cooped up in a kennel. She really turned in the charm for me just at the kennel door, then outside she never stopped wagging her tail. She is extremely treat motivated and will jump straight up bc that’s what she thinks you are asking her to do. This girl is just a bundle of joy and will for sure keep a smile on your face!

German Shepherd Mix | Neutered Male | 2Y | 41.4 lbs | HW-

Alright guys, this is a VERY GOOD BOY!! Like my absolute favorite pup at the shelter right now, and there are some very good ones there currently! Al is the total package - calm, friendly, playful, easygoing, and loves to melt into your lap for cuddles. And did I mention that he's sooo handsome?? He's on the list for length of stay and it's crazy to me that a beautiful, perfect boy like this hasn't been snatched up by an adopter yet. He walks beautifully on a leash and did super well on his TT with another male who was being very forward. He seems to have an easygoing personality that molds to whatever dog he's with, because we ended up using him for multiple temp tests since he did so well. I haven't been able to stop thinking about him since I met him (and I took him out both days I was at the shelter) so that speaks to what a special boy this is. He needs a foster or adopter to save his life, and he will be an absolute delight to the lucky, future family who gets him. Please don't let this weekend be his last!!
