They may come in all shapes, sizes, and colors but their love, that’s 100% pure. Our shelter is full with sweet pups that are looking for loving homes where they belong. Yesterday, our shelter had the wonderful opportunity to partner with the Wellness and Engagement team to bring a few of our adorable pets for a special Pet Therapy visit! City employees got to take a well-deserved break and spend time with Sugar and two of our cute shelter kittens. Spending time with animals has been proven to reduce stress, ease anxiety, and boost overall mood. But beyond the science, it’s the smiles, warmth, and genuine connection that make these moments so meaningful.

Back in November 2024, our A*O was dispatched to a tiny kitten in critical condition. Weak and dehydrated, he was rushed to the vet, but his future was uncertain. Against all odds, he pulled through. He needed round-the-clock care, and one amazing foster didn’t hesitate to say yes. She named him Moose for his cute mustache, and he quickly stole her heart and quickly became a “Foster Fortune,” a foster who ends up staying forever.
Today, Moose is the ultimate big brother to every foster that walks through his home. He lovingly welcomes every new foster, offering the same comfort and care he once received.
Moose proves that sometimes, the animals we rescue end up rescuing others. Moose is proof of the magic of fostering.

Big thanks to Officer Bromonsky and our friends at Sugar Land Police Department for ensuring this little visitor got the care and attention he needed. Our team was happy to assist in checking him out before he was safely released back into Memorial Park. Just another example of teamwork in Sugar Land, serving both two- and four-legged residents alike!
