Something that is so beautiful about nature is how it has learned to work in symbiosis with beings around it.

What I'm growing right now is actually mostly a cover crop. It's purpose is to enrich the soil, protect it from drying out and being less fertile for the next growing season. Not to mention feeding my little wormie babies🪱

I'm growing beans bc a professional gardener in Austin told me and that beans will send nutrients to the plants around them, so they grown taller and provide a natural Trellis for the beans to climb. They also suppress weeds, and make nitrogen in the atmosphere available in the soil.

Today I noticed just that is happening. This red potato plant is TALL and the lil bean is just climbing away 😍

I'm still a very novice gardener, but I'm continually surprised and in awe of the way the garden teaches me about life.

I think about how I can support people around me who will then support me in the future. How can we all connect to our communities in a way that brings symbiotic relationships?

If a bean plant can do it, I'm sure we can too🌿

Stella is officially adopted y'all!!!

Words can't express the feeling of being a part of this girl's adoption story. The respect and admiration I have for who never gave up on her, who followed all the homeworks and dedicated the time to train Stella how to feel safe in a scary world - it's unparalleled. And for someone like Bella (her new mama!) to take the time and patience to give Stella space, and prove to her with a thousand small interactions that she is safe and worthy of her trust - it restores my faith in humanity. Together we just had a celebratory dinner and I've been fighting back happy tears ever since.

It takes a village to help a behavior dog find their forever person.... The humans who rescue the dog, the people who donate money to fund the care, the fosters who care for the dog, the rescue () who backs the dog, the vets and vet techs who spend extra time meeting their needs, the trainers that help make a plan for helping them feel safe...

Many little moments; small choices and big decisions - to pivot towards love and support... Believing that dogs like Stella, who can show "scary" behavior when they're feeling threatened - can rehabilitate and find safe, loving homes.... It's possible. But it ISN'T possible unless you rely on your community for support.

I feel honored to be a part of Houston's rescue community. I hope I am doing this work for a long, long time. 💘 To help a hundred more Stellas find their families.

My heart is so full tonight. I'm reminded why I lose sleep, or have stressful days... It's for moment like this. When it is all worth it. ❤️

2 weeks ago me and my Dad started a project to rebuild my garden box that was falling apart! We made a plan, worked together, and created this beautiful little space together that will grow some of my food for this coming year ❤️

Today got the last little piece to make it complete🪩🌵 The Lizard Lounge is now open for business! They have a little pool, disco balls and solar lights at night. Hopefully they enjoy it 🤣

Look who had a potential adoption meet n greet today WITH ANOTHER DOG! I was so incredibly proud of Stella for how well she did today. She only gave a few half-hearted barks and was wanting to be social much quicker than I expected🤩 It's evident that Sharlie's hard work has paid off!

Everyone send Stella and Sharlie some good vibes for tomorrow when they do part 2 at the adopter's home ❤️❤️❤️

Sequim, Washington 💚

Late to post, but the second half of our PNW trip was spent in this Lil town and we were stunned by the beauty of this place. The coffee was best I've ever had (tiny coffee shacks ftw!), found the most amazing grocery store, we looked for cool rocks for hours on the Dungeness spit (longest in the US), staring hard at the horizon looking for whales, and we both were so thankful to for being the best pnw tour guide we could have ever asked for! And she even brought a rescue pup from so we could hike together and give him some enrichment time❤️

I feel so grateful to have experienced the unique beauty of this place, and even more grateful to have had the best travel buddy to do it with! We laughed so much on this trip our sides hurt 🤣 I'd travel the world with you .signs!

This week I had the pleasure of working with a client's dog and her two young kids!
I don't get to interact with kids too much, but I honestly do love it. It's fun to figure out how we can make training the dog fun for everyone - because making sure our dogs are enriched shouldn't be a chore, it should be a game that's fun for all! Dogs (and kids) remind us how important it is to just PLAY.

Their mom and I created a new game that the kiddos named Rocket Boost Mosaic. One at a time the boys run from one side of the yard to the other with the dog - if she jumps up REDLIGHT! You freeze and turn around, but if she is just running beside them, GREENLIGHT! then as they get back to the board they face the dog and when she offers an automatic sit we click and the kiddo offers the dog a snack 🥰 they then get to color in a square, and the most squares wins!

This impulse control exercise not only was a blast, but also left us with this very cool mosaic, and some tuckered out kiddos and pup😜

Even if you don't have kids, get creative with how you implement your training. What is fun for YOU AND THE DOG. Enrich both your lives together! 🐶♥️🎉

I got to see my Beau Beanya🥰

Seeing this guy in Portland was so special to me♥️ I've loved him ever since we first met all those years ago in Houston as he came through the rescue looking for his forever home. I feel so lucky to have still been connected to Kaelee after all this time, going out that evening in Portland all together, and then spending my last few moments in the city going on a walk with one of my soul dogs and his living mama! ❤️❤️❤️

Traveling with an artist like .signs is such a gift because you get to meet other amazing artists like Perry (who is an absolute sweetheart of a human being) and get not only a tour of his neon workshop with - but also a really cool demonstration of how this art is made!
