Our Story

At the Vet Tech Institute we are focused on helping our students achieve their goal to become a veterinary technician. Students can graduate in 18 months with plenty of hands on experience.

The first location of the Vet Tech Institute was as a program of the Median School of Allied Health Careers founded in Pittsburgh in 1958. Since then the Vet Tech Institute has grown to include a total of 4 locations nationwide.

The facility includes an on-site kennel and plenty of industry standard equipment. Through the well-rounded curriculum, students learn and practice animal nursing, how to run laboratory tests, perform radiology, assist in surgery and provide animal care. Near the end of the program students have a course to help them prepare for the national certification exam. Most of the “patient” experience is focused on dogs and cats, but students also get hands on practice and learn about rodents, exotics and large animals.
