No because let's talk about this. Start a conversation.
Here's mine having my birds was a life decision I made. I rescued all of my birds except 4. And paid for the 4 and they were worth every DAMN penny i spent on them the love and honor i have to ha e them is worth that and beyond They are not breeders they are friendly loving pets. Who live inside my home. Where they are so very loved and cared for. Do my husband and I go on vacation? No. Can I stay places? No. Do I go out if town for a week or weekend a few days? No. When you get birds it is a commitment. A very long one. Shout out to the ethical breeders out there busting their asses.
POTENTIAL OWNER: How much is the parrot?
BREEDER: $4000
POTENTIAL OWNER: What?? It's way too expensive!!
BREEDER: What do you think would be a good price?
POTENTIAL OWNER: No more than $500. You breeders are so over priced.
BREEDER: I am sorry you see it this way, why don't you try breeding yourself?
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I've never done it!
BREEDER: For FREE I can teach you how to do it, and in addition you will have the knowledge to do it again.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Perfect, thank you, I'll try it out!
BREEDER: To start you will need a quality female ( average cost $4000 and up). Also a male(average cost $4000 and up). You will need to hand feed the babies and socialize the babies so they will make great pets. Then you will have to train them to step up and to handle having nails and wings trimmed. On top of that you'll need extra time to provide daily care to your breeder pair, clean their enclosures, feeding, socializing, and spending time with them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have that much money or that much extra time...
BREEDER: You will also need
a brooder, leg bands, hand feeding tools, chick formula, thermometer, latex gloves, sanitizer, scissors, nail trimmers, heating pad, nest boxes, bedding, cleaning supplies, toys for enrichment, appropriate food with supplements for mothers, grow out cages, medications and in case of emergency, a reliable vet. Just to name a few things to get you started in the right direction.
POTENTIAL OWNER: But I don't have all these things!
BREEDER: For $12,000-15,000 you can buy them.
POTENTIAL OWNER: Ummm .... You know, I think it might be better if I just buy a pet parrot.
BREEDER: Wise decision.
For us breeders there are no vacations or holidays, while you go to visit with family & friends we are home at our parrot’s side caring for them. It is a no breaks commitment.
THIS IS THE REALITY
When you choose a professional you don't only pay for the parrot, but also:
Tools, knowledge, experience, love, time, sacrifices, etc. -
