Xochil is 5 years old and a mix of herder and terrier. She was a pound puppy and was returned once. She’s been in her home now for 4 years and had some anxiety to tackle as well as some big bad aggressive behavior with people. She has an extensive bite history that is all centered around people approaching her and when she is next to her owners and people get close. Her vet visits are dramatic and she is just a very stressy girl to the point it agitated her stomach.
This photo shows a quick progression of how correct use of body language, spatial pressure, and relaxed confidence with the leash fixed the issue of Xochil trying to take charge and force her way past her owner and out the front door. Changing the relationship dynamic and teaching a murdery dog that they are no longer in control of the home is key to restored peace and understood boundaries with space and guests. Xochil resource guards her owners so that’s a major thing we are addressing for her behavior mod journey. They’ve been having to board her anytime guests are coming over due to her uncontrollable aggression. That all changes now!
The first update after this first lesson: “She’s doing awesome. She’s been a lot more chill and looking to us for guidance.”
