Just a friendly reminder that these are death traps for your dog AND your pocket. They are known for causing obstructions, and that surgery isn't cheap. Stick to more easily digestible (and reasonably sized) snacks for your pup on Christmas.

Yes, rawhide bones can be dangerous for dogs and should be avoided:

Choking: Dogs can choke on large pieces of rawhide or swallow them whole.

Intestinal blockage: Rawhide can get stuck in a dog's esophagus or digestive tract, potentially leading to a life-threatening blockage

Toxic chemicals: Rawhide can contain toxic chemicals used in its production

Digestive upset: Rawhide can upset a dog's sensitive stomach.

If you do give your dog rawhide, you can take some precautions to reduce the risk:

Supervise: Always supervise your dog while they're chewing.

Take it away: If you think your dog is breaking down the rawhide too fast, take it away.

Start slowly: Give your dog one piece at a time, and wait a day to see how their stomach reacts.
