Finally got this pen put up for the chicks that were still in the big brooder in the shed! We also had 4 bunnies get picked up today, so that cuts down on my bunny population a bit. I started cleaning cages today, I’ll work on more of them this week.

We had a sad experience this week. I learned a lot! One, that predators are always around, even if you don’t see them! They are watching and taking note of everything! Two, don’t be lazy. The game warden came out and was really helpful and knowledgeable about mountain lions. Gave us a lot of good suggestions, so hopefully this doesn’t happen again.

Sunday, we processed 10 dozen eggs, barely made a dent in what we have in the fridge! 4 dozen got canned, 6 dozen were lightly scrambled, then dehydrated. We then ground them into powder. We need to work on more. Part of our putting food away for long term storage.

V’s babies are coming out of the nesting area! I moved them today back to her original cage. It’s shadier down there and we’re in for some hot weather.

Today was harvesting wild yarrow. It grows all over the property. I have several really large patches that I harvested from. They should produce another set of flowers now. I have them drying down in my camper that I use for that purpose.

We got the walnut, hackberry and 2 chokecherry trees planted today. We also cut more barrels in half. This morning we had gone up to Rapid City to deliver a bunch of eggs to the thrift shop.
