Hi, everyone! My name is Lexi, and I’m thrilled to share my journey in the Dakota Showdown Horse Trainer Challenge with you. Over the next 100 days, I’ll be working with Dewey, an incredible rescue mustang, and I couldn’t be more excited about the adventures ahead.
My love for horses started when I worked as a trail guide for three years. During that time, I truly fell in love with these amazing animals. Horses have always fascinated me, and that passion led me to get my own horses, attend clinics, compete in horse shows, and take lessons to grow my skills. I’ve been eager to show off what I’ve learned along the way, but I’m just as excited to keep learning and evolving. On top of it all, I’m also a certified equine massage therapist—working to ensure horses feel their very best!
Dewey joined me on Saturday, and he’s already such a joy to work with. He’s a sweet, curious horse who loves being close—what we call an “in-your-pocket” kind of horse. We’ve been working on understanding personal space, getting comfortable with being touched everywhere, and leading confidently around the pasture. He’s incredibly willing to follow me on our little adventures, and I love seeing his open-minded, eager spirit shine through.
This journey is about so much more than training; it’s about building a bond based on trust, respect, and partnership. Dewey and I are learning from each other every day, and I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together. Thank you for following along, I’m excited to share our progress with you!
