Knotty Woods Wildlife Rescue

Knotty Woods Wildlife Rescue I am a volunteer sub permitted rehabber through Wild Heart Wildlife Rescue. I do not get paid for the work I do, nor am I an employee of any kind.

Every animal I care for relies on incoming donations to provide the needed medical, nutrition, housing, ECT.

Wishlist Wednesday 🦝🦝🦝❀️❀️

I am in desperate need of dog food. I have eggs, fruits, veggies, and treats, but I cannot keep up with the demand of the amount of dog food needed for these guys. Any things helps even $5 towards supplies. πŸ™

Dog food is way cheaper from tractor supply, but if you prefer to have it shipped it can be shipped from Amazon also.

It has been such a busy summer and time flew right by -to quickly. I haven't even had time to catch up around here and the kids are already back to πŸ«πŸŽ’πŸšŒ. A lot of family and friend emergencies have came up the last month and I have not been able to post as much as usual, but I'm trying to catch up on things now.

Many🦝🦝🦝 babies are still in care awaiting release and I have beyond ran out of supplies.

Most of my bigger babies have become quite wild and will be getting released in the next few weeks, but I still have 7 littles and non wild babies that will stay longer. One of which is the biggest one ever and she just is too friendly yet to go LULU. Lulu was very clingy and friendly when she came as a single baby and is still very friendly. She has learned to fish, crack open eggs, and forage, but she needs to get a little more of a wild personality. Most of the babies will start to run away when I come into the pen or climb up high. Lulu comes to the ground and grabs onto legs like a big hug and runs around like a dogπŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ. She is just starting to show a little wild in a big raccoon.πŸ˜†

They are getting so big No amount of food seems to be enough for these chunks! Fish, frogs, tomatoes and grapes for the pool. Eggs, veggies, grasshoppers and of course kibble and meat.

Surviving and thriving on it's own. Check out Jimothy, this is the reason ppl should stop freaking out every time they see a raccoon in daylight and assume it has rabies...there are far weirder things out there πŸ˜„.
If you choose not to love them that's ok, but just let them be and stop killing the random wildlife. ❀️

I have another huge project that needs to take way here for the rescueπŸ˜“.

I hate begging for donations and help, but the sad truth is I just can't afford to keep running a rescue without the help. There are too many costs involved. I received very little help with the coonstruction enclosure (only about $75 if that) this year and that was well over $2000. 😭

But this construction is NEEDED TO CONTINUE RESCUING. The only reason I am even and to rescue is because I have Lymes Disease and fibromyalgia which keeps me from working a regular full time paid job- which keeps me at home; that being said I DO NOT receive disability or any source of income for my long term health problems. Every day I haul 5-8 five-gallon bucks of water 3 acres across the yard for the raccoons fresh water and pool water. It is physically IMPOSSIBLE for me to continue doing this and I NEED water ran to the back of the property. Without this I have no choice but to quit the rescue because of the physical demand on my joints and arm. I am already in an arm brace with tennis elbow from doing this for the last two months.

I am desperately in need of help to complete this project. We can do the work ourselves, but I need help with the funding 😭.

I'm estimating :
$350 to rent a trencher to dig below the frost line all the way across 3 acres of the property.

$90- in ground spigot

$200 water line.
--------------------------------------------
Total of approximately $650 with tax

I know this is a HUGE ask, but without this I will not be able to take anymore raccoons because of my physical limitations. 😰

Today was Release day for Koda, Mr. Bobinski, Peanut, Trouble, and Savy 🐿️.

These guys all get soft released. I have a small trap door on my large pre-release enclosure. The little door gets opened and left OPENED. I continue to leave food both in and outside of the enclosure, but this way they can come and go and even still get into their nest box in the enclosure if they would like to. This way they don't have to instantly worry about finding food sources and building a nest and finding a good location right away.
