Southern Curls Rex Rattery

Southern Curls Rex Rattery An Alabama Pet Rat Breeder dedicated to providing families with quality animals with great personalities and charming good looks. ***ANNOUNCEMENT!

WE CLOSED BACK IN 2014!*** We are planning to re-open when the circumstances are alright again. I will still be happy to answer any questions anyone may have as even though I no longer breed I still have the experience. Southern Curls Rex Rattery was officially established on December 23, 2011 as a rattery that specializes in the improvement of rex, double rex, and hairless genetics. It is located

in Hoover Alabama and run by Shealyn Bonds and Daniel Gill. There is only ever one litter available at a time unless special circumstances rise. We breed for quality not quantity no matter what the rush is. Adoption Fees as PET ONLY:
Rescues - Free to an Approved Home [Unless otherwise noted due to vet bills, extensive care, etc.]
Retired - $5
Standard Coat [Dumbo Or Standard Ears]- $10
Double Rex/ Hairless [Dumbo or Standard Ears] - $15
Rex/ Velveteen [Dumbo or Standard Ears] - $15

Rules for Adoption:
- You must fill out an Adoption Application to be considered for Adoption.
- Rats are adopted out in same s*x pairs unless arrangements are made otherwise by SCRR.
- You must be 18 or older to adopt unless a legal parent or guardian is present -- No exceptions. The legal parent or guardian must sign for the rat and accept all responsibilities for the rat.
- SCRR holds the right to refuse adoption to indoor smokers. Cigarette smoke is terrible for rat health.
- You must keep in contact with us as an adopter. Any illnesses, sudden death, aggression, sudden timidness, or any other unusual behaviors are to be reported to SCRR so they can be documented.
- If you can no longer take care of your rat or suddenly come into a position where you can no longer keep your rat, you are to contact SCRR. We will either take the rats back (No Refunds) or we will help you find a home that has been approved by SCRR.
- All adoption fees are final. You have one week to decide if the rat is right for you, and your rats come down with a severe or fatal illness within the first two weeks, SCRR will claim responsibility for the rat and provide a 100% refund should the illness or death not be a cause of negligence or abuse.
- We will not ship. If you are from out of state, you can contact us personally to arrange getting your rats to you. If you are in the state of Alabama, you must come pick up your rats. We will NOT deliver.
- These rats are for PET HOMES ONLY unless given permission otherwise by SCRR. (**SCRR Reserves the right to deny any and all breeders permission to breed SCRR rats should they provide for, or are a part of: labratories, feeder breeders, reported hoarding cases, or those who have been criminally charged for animal abuse.**)

Have you ever struggled with figuring out what kind of toys to get your rats? Consider bird toys as an option! They are always non-toxic, safe, and full of all kinds of engaging textures. So skip the boring jingle toys in the hamster isle the next time you are buying for your baby and hop over to the bird isle! Your ratlings will thank you!

Hey, everyone! I have a wonderful young lady searching for a home for her two ratties! They are dumbo eared rex sisters about 7 months old. We both agree the adopter needs to be experienced with ratties because of Amara timidness. It takes a little while for Amara to trust people, but with the right owner she could do just fine. She will send all of their treats and toys, etc. everything she has for them with them. If needed she will send the cage but it's not in the best condition. They ate a hole in the bottom pan and she currently has a book taped over it! She recommends having your own cage, and I also have one for sale you can get at a discount if you choose to adopt these two girls! Neither of us want them separated. They need to go as a pair because it would hurt Amara if she didn't have her sister. Lilly is a curious, spunky, friendly Pink eyed white rex and Amara is a black hooded beauty who is a timid, rambunctious little girl that will need special time and attention. If you are interested, shoot me a message telling me why you feel you would be a good home for these two girls. I look forward to hearing from you!

Below are pictures of the cage, the supplies, and of course, Lilly and Amara!

So, guys! I'm gonna post my first recipe on here. It's a really, really simple one, but it's one your rats may LOVE! And since here in the South, we're starting to get into that warmer weather, it'd be a great treat.

So what is this yummy treat called? Peanut and Banana Yogurt drops. Super simple, super easy, and SUPER yummy.

Ingredients:
Plain Yogurt
All natural Peanut butter
A banana!

The recipe can be adjusted based on how many you wanna make. These are great for dogs, too!

Place 2 cups of plain yogurt, one tablespoon of all natural peanut butter, and 1 banana in a blender and blend until COMPLETELY smooth. NO LUMPS. It will give it an almost pancake-batter texture.

Now comes the fun part. You can pipe this yummy mixture into silicone molds, ice trays, or pipe onto a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper and make little yogurt drops with them. After you've decided how you want your little treats to look, pop those suckers into the freezer for no less than 4 hours but preferably overnight. Once they're hardened, give them directly to your pet. The cold makes for a refreshing treat for this warmer weather we're starting to get into.

You can also use this recipe to pipe onto homemade dog biscuits so your pooch has an excellent icing on his already delicious treats!
