This handsome boy from our Maxine Furs colony broke our record for fastest trapped! I think the trap was down for a minute and a half before we had him. Tomorrow he will be đŸ’â€â™€ïž

I haven’t shared this handsome boy yet, but I think it’s time. Meet Pepperoni! He was abandoned at an apartment complex with his sibling and mom. All three were very sweet, with no skills to survive outside. Unfortunately, this apartment complex has dogs that are very aggressive. Pepperoni’s brother was killed by these dogs and he escaped with some injuries. We don’t have extra funds (or foster space) to throw around, but he needed our help. He’s heading to our vet for an evaluation tomorrow. Could you help us raise funds for him? A conservative estimate for his initial care is $200. It could go up depending on what is decided about his leg. You can donate to his care by utilizing our Venmo or Paypal at kittykathavenrescue or through our Facebook donation link! We know you’ll ask about their mom and right now we don’t have a spot for her. We really want to figure out a solution because she is the sweetest girl. She also deserves a chance. Alabama sucks for these sweet animals. If you’re interested in adopting mom or you’re another rescue who can pull her, please message us! Her picture will be in the comments.

Look who is thriving! Little Camillia went to our vet yesterday. We were nervous about her prognosis, but our vet was very hopeful. She said Camillia was strong and once the fleas and fly eggs were removed she stood a really good chance at being bottle raised. We managed to get all the eggs off (yuck!) and found her a temporary bottle feeder. She’s gaining weight like she should. And she’s just a precious little thing! We will still be holding our breath because things can change so fast with these little ones. But, as long as she’s fighting to be here we will fight with her.

Camillia will need a full time bottle feeder/foster if you have experience or are willing to learn! Our small neonate team is full and we want her to have the attention she needs without burning out our fosters. If you can bottle feed please let us know! All supplies and support is provided ❀

This sweet girl is a testament to what spay and neuter can do. She was pregnant and dumped outside. She meandered over to a feral colony and began eating with them. The caretaker couldn’t stand the idea of her having kittens outside and made the right choice to have her spayed and bring her in. And look at her! We are able to focus on this little lady and finding her wn amazing home instead of fretting over kittens, their care, and potentially finding homes for 6+ kittens and mom. ✹More info: We think she would be fine with other cats once she is combo tested. She is over the top sweet. She loves people and just wants to be safe and cuddled. Stay tuned to follow her journey and let us know if she seems like a good fit for you!

See this little baby? She’s days old (if that) and has been abandoned by mom who is still a baby herself. Shes covered in fleas, cold to the touch, and has fly strike (where flies lay eggs that hatch and become maggots). This is kitten season in Alabama. Kittens born to kittens who don’t know what to do. Everyone suffers. So, yeah I’m gonna be harsh when you reach out to me about a pregnant cat. I’m going to tell you to get off of the moral high horse you’re on and fix that cat before kittens are born. Nothing about this is cute. Here’s hoping little Camellia can make it. But, in the likelihood she doesn’t, carry her memory with you. Let her short life and the lives of others we have lost like this be your reminder. Fix the cats you feed, the ones in your neighborhood, any you can trap or get your hands on. And then pat yourself on the back because YOU saved countless lives by fixing them.

Rainy day purrs from Mama Marie and her four littles. Marie and these four came from the group of eleven kittens. I’m happy to report the other two adults with Marie are being spayed this upcoming week and have a new home waiting for them. There were also two teenagers with them too. They will be neutered and have a home waiting for them too. These kittens and adults were all hanging by a thread. They were malnourished, flea ridden, dehydrated, and have coccidia. With lots of TLC from all their foster’s they’ll make a full recovery. We can’t wait to watch their glow ups đŸ„° We will (hopefully) post more this week about TNR endeavors. We have been working behind the scenes fixing cats, but have been way too busy to keep up on social media. So stay tuned!

An update on the kittens from earlier:

We have gotten all eleven kittens and one mom. The majority of the eleven are old enough to be weaned and eat on their own. They are being split in between two foster homes. The younger four and mom will stay with another foster so they can nurse until an appropriate weaning age. They are all (including mom) super malnourished so everyone looks younger than they are. Remember, teeth don’t lie! So we based ages on that milestone. We were told mom wasn’t friendly, but she’s actually the sweetest girl. She’s been through so much so we can imagine she had to act tough and protective. Here’s a breakdown of our intake that we did for each of these kittens:

1. We checked body temperature to make sure no one was overheated.

2. We checked teeth and weights to get an age estimate.

3. We dosed out and administered fluids based on weights and possible flea anemia.

4. We gave flea treatment.

5. They started our typical deworming protocol.

Each kitten we take in goes through this protocol. It’s time consuming, but so important to make sure we do everything right to avoid health issues later. At this point we are asking for donations to help cover the cost of vetting for these eleven kittens and the one mom cat. I’ll make another post about the two teens and two other mom cats not in our care currently. All donations can be made to Kitty Kat Haven & Rescue through PayPal and Venmo:

Alright gang, we need your help ASAP.

We were contacted this morning about three adult cats and eleven kittens. Their finder owns 30 acres that has an abandoned barn on it. Unfortunately, her dog found the kittens first and once they realized what was happening they set traps and starting grabbing kittens. There are seven six week old kittens and four who are maybe 2-3 weeks. Two moms are a little spicy and one is not. The finder has agreed to take moms back once kittens are weaned and they are fix to take care of them. But, we desperately need placement for the babies. If you can foster any kittens or a mom and four tiny babies please reach out. This is the only way we can assist. If they don’t have a place to go, hard choices will have to be considered. Please reach out to us if you can foster! All supplies provided of course.

Good morning everyone!

I was just notified our feral shed is OUT of food. We rely on donations to make sure our colonies and caretakers have the food they need. Can you help us by donating a bag? If you’d rather buy in person you’re welcome to drop off any food at Kitty Kat Haven and Rescue in Hoover. With your help we feed so many kitties who wouldn’t have food otherwise đŸ„°
