Yesterday’s awards blew my mind! I went into the show this weekend wanting to show how far Sauvie has come in his training and celebrate this 120 day training challenge. I did not have any exceptions of coming away with any prize awards. So when I heard Sauvie and my name called the first time with a 4th place win in the Novice Body Conditioning and Handling, I was caught off. When our names were called again for 1st place in the Novice Showmanship, my jaw dropped! Our names were called a third time for 2nd place in the Novice Trail Course. Then they combined both Experienced and Novice divisions to award overall places to the top 10. Our names were finally called a 4th time to win 9th place, earning me a fancy belt buckle! The entire experience was completely new to me, so winning felt like cherries on top of an incredible four months of working with Sauvie! All I can say is “WOW,” and thank Jesus and my family for helping me through this incredible experience! There were 33 horses in my division of Adult Riding. Here’s the breakdown:

4th in Novice Body Conditioning and Handling
1st in Novice Showmanship
2nd in Novice Trail Course
9th Overall

This is our Trail Course performance from yesterday—Saturday! Sauvie did SO so so well!! I literally could not be more proud of how well we did! We performed exactly how I had hoped based on where Sauvie is at in his training. He 100% with me and I was able to show his best, which is a wonderful feeling! Awards were today and boy did we come away with some prizes!! That update will follow shortly 😁 2025 Teens and Oregon Mustangs Trainer Updates Calm Lead Mustang

I was so proud of our showmanship portion today. It was the first time I’ve ever done it, so maybe my expectations were low, but I felt we nailed it until the backing-up portion. Sauvie got a little worried by the three people sitting in chairs behind him and the large crowd in front of him. I’m still so impressed by how well we pulled it all together!
