I have been seeing A LOT of inquiries on social media community pages as well as private inquiries about pricing for cleaning services. I thought it might be helpful to do a post about it.
There are several factors that play in pricing (just like with any retail business and/or service), few factors of why our rates are what they are. Below does not include or outline the overhead we have such as rental of office space/storage of cleaners and equipment, payroll, taxes, insurance, licensing, cleaners, equipment, supplies, etc. Service area also varies with pricing. Cost of living is different in every city/state.
Also keep in mind cleaning is considered a luxury service. It is not affordable for everyone. With my business I do have a sliding scale cleaning for elderly, disabled veterans, cancer patients, and several other situations, those are just a few. I do have a business to run and costs to cover.
When hiring a licensed and insured professional cleaning technician offers several key advantages over hiring someone who is not licensed or insured, even if they are just cleaning on the side:
1. Professional Expertise and Training
-Licensed Technicians: A licensed cleaner typically undergoes formal training and certification, ensuring they are skilled in various cleaning techniques, using the right products, and adhering to industry standards. This guarantees a higher level of expertise and efficiency.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: While they may have cleaning experience, they may lack the formal training required to handle specialized tasks or use certain equipment safely.
2. Insurance and Liability Protection
-Licensed and Insured Technicians: If something goes wrong—such as damage to your property or injury during the cleaning process—insurance can cover the costs. This protects both the technician and the client from financial liability.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: Without insurance, you may be held responsible for any damage to your property or if the cleaner gets hurt while on your premises. You also risk not having recourse if something is damaged or stolen.
3. Consistency and Reliability
-Licensed Technicians: These professionals typically work for established companies with protocols and systems in place, ensuring consistent and reliable service. They're often required to maintain certain standards and can be held accountable if something goes wrong.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: Someone cleaning "on the side" may lack the resources to provide consistent, reliable service. There's also the risk of them not showing up or canceling at the last minute.
4. Legal Compliance
-Licensed Technicians: They comply with local regulations, tax requirements, and industry standards, ensuring that their business operations are legitimate and above board.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: Someone working informally might not be following local labor or tax laws, and this could create complications for you as a client.
5. Quality Assurance
-Licensed Technicians: Many licensed cleaning services offer guarantees for their work, meaning that if you're not satisfied, they’ll return to fix any issues. This can provide peace of mind knowing that the job will be done properly.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: While they may offer lower rates, there's often no guarantee of quality or recourse if you're not happy with the results.
6. Trustworthiness
-Licensed Technicians: Professional cleaning services often conduct background checks on their employees, ensuring that they are trustworthy and dependable. This can help you feel more secure when allowing someone into your home or business.
-Non-Licensed Cleaners: There's a greater risk in trusting someone who may not have been vetted, especially if they don't have a professional background.
Conclusion:
While hiring someone cleaning on the side may seem like a more affordable option, the benefits of hiring a licensed and insured professional far outweigh the potential risks. You get expertise, reliability, legal protection, and peace of mind knowing that the technician is well-equipped to handle your cleaning needs safely and effectively.
I hope this is helpful. ✨️
