Gus is patiently waiting for his forever homešŸ™

Gus is doing great at his foster home. He is gaining confidence thanks to his foster family šŸ™ He is a sweet, friendly, pitbullā¤ļø He needs a family who understands pitbull and can continue working on gaining confidence. He will be happy to be only dog or does well with calm non-reactive dogs after proper introduction. He is a 2 years old, 60lbs boy.

Gus was initially rescued by his foster and her friend as he was tied outside all day for an unknown period of time. We were informed that he was a gift but the family did not want him.

If you're interested in him, please message us! Thank you!

(He is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventive pills)

Ellie is patiently waiting for her forever home. She was transferred to us from the Hawaiian Humane Society because she was very skittish and had trouble trusting humans. We were informed that she lived with eight other dogs with a houseless person. She has been with us for 407 days. Ellie is a sweet and loving six-year-old chihuahua mix who weighs 8 lbs. Although she tends to attach herself to one person quickly, she is gradually learning to trust more people with time and patience. Her foster mother has worked hard to help her gain confidence, and Ellie’s trust in humans has grown significantly. She is very food motivated, which makes it easier to become her friend and helps with training. While Ellie is less skittish than she was a year ago, she still feels uncomfortable walking in the dark or around loud noises. She is not fond of children when they are noisy. Ellie would thrive in a calm home without young children or loud noises, ideally with someone who has experience helping shy dogs gain confidence. We are looking for an adopter who is patient and willing to continue exposing her to different places and new experiences to help her build confidence. She enjoys shopping at TJ Max! She currently lives with another foster dog, Elle, with whom she is very bonded. We would be thrilled if Ellie and Elle could be adopted together. If you're interested in her, please message us!

She's spayed, vaccinated and on monthly prevention pill.

Mimi is patiently waiting for her home.

She was found on the street in Waikiki and a houseless person handed her to our dedicated foster saying "she found her and can't care for it." She is a 15 lbs, about 4 months old, girl. Her foster informed she would probably be a medium sized dog. She is very friendly and playful puppy. She had third puppy shots and will take her last shots in 2 weeks. Then she will get spayed.

We're taking applications for her. If you're interested in her, please message us.

Abby has been with us for 1,050 days (over 2 years and 10 months) after being transferred from HHS at six months old due to her skittishness and difficulty adjusting to the shelter. She is currently just over 3 years old, weighs 18lbs, and is a corgi mix. Abby went to several trial homes, but it was never her fault that things didn’t work out. She simply hasn’t found her forever home yet.
Though she remains a bit skittish at first, Abby warms up quickly. She is energetic, playful, and loves treats, food, and other dogs, especially large ones! Abby is housebroken and crate trained, and she is a very sweet, friendly, and loving girl who needs lots of exercise and doggy friends. Abby would thrive in a home with another friendly playful dog and an active family who can give her plenty of exercise and patience as she settles in. If you're interested in her, please message us. Thank you! Videos are in the comments.

She is vaccinated, spayed and on monthly preventives.

Wilson has been with us for 1,370 days (3 years and 9 months), patiently waiting for his forever home. As you may remember, Wilson came to us in a wheelchair because he could not use his back legs—his original owners were considering euthanasia. Thanks to the dedication of his first foster, he avoided surgery for IVDD and is now able to run. Wilson underwent successful stone removal surgery and is currently on a special diet to support his health. Wilson has come a long way in his journey.

Wilson is a 20lbs, 6-7-year-old boy who is good with other dogs but does not do well with puppies or high-energy dogs. He has lived with a cat. He LOVES going for walks (though he shouldn't run on concrete) and is highly food motivated! Wilson listens well, has a strong recall, and understands house rules. He will need a house with a fenced-in yard without stairs, and a patient family willing to help him adjust to his new environment and bond over time. Wilson forms deep bonds with those who show him patience and love, making him a truly rewarding companion. He LOVES getting attention and communicates his likes and dislikes clearly. He has a bite history. If you're interested in learning more about Wilson, please message us!

He's vaccinated, neutered and on monthly preventives.

Ruffy nka Kuma Ruffy came to us because his previous owner was going to be evicted and was going to surrender him to the Hawaiian Humane Society. We knew he would have a very difficult time in such an environment so a foster was found and we took him in. He had several fosters until his last one which turned out to be his foster fail forever family. Kuma Ruffy was discovered to have a high level heart murmur as well as high blood pressure. Nonetheless, his now forever family cared for him until all of their questions were answered by a veterinarian and immediately gave the word that they wanted him to forever be a part of their family. We are so fortunate to have such dedicated fosters, not only Kuma Ruffy's family but all of our fosters in our HFDR ohana. We could not rescue and save these furbabies without them. Be happy, Kuma Ruffy. You definitely found your perfect family.

Nugget was examined at PetVet Animal Hospital for his semi-annual checkup. Also, we found out a small mass was developed recently on his leg, which turned out to be a mast cell tumor. So, he needs surgery to remove it. Nugget is scheduled for surgery this Friday, the 10th, to remove the tumor and address a dental issue at the same time. After the procedure, the tumor will be biopsied to determine if it is benign. The total cost for his surgery and dental work will be between $2,261.71 and $2,829.78. We need your help to cover these expenses. If you could help Nugget, please donate via PayPal, Venmo or mail a check to P.O. Box 17512 Honolulu 96817 Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help his surgery and recovery.

Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity. We’ll keep everyone updated on his progress—please keep him in your thoughts and prayers!

Aluminum Update on Spike and Cocoa

Chipper Jones, white, fluffy one (fka Spike), Ozzie, dark brown one (fka Cocoa) and Ami, black fluffy, their sister from other rescue, moved to the mainland! They safely arrived at their new home at 2am today!! They drove from an airport for several hours to homešŸ˜ They were well prepared for this flight so as not to get stressed too much! As you can see in the pictures, they put them in their soft crates at home and practiced to stay there comfortably. So they did very well in the airplanešŸ‘ They're currently resting and adjustingā¤ļø We're very grateful to hear all these updates. Thank you for giving them the best forever home they truly deserve šŸ˜šŸ™šŸ˜

Chipper came to us with his other 7 siblings as his owner passed away. He was adopted in 2021. Ozzie was transferred from HHS as he was terrified at the shelter and very skittish. He was adopted in 2024.

So before we continue with this heartwarming story, take a minute to look up Teddy's adoption (posted September 21). Are you doing a double take? It's the same humans but with a different pup?? Nope, you are not seeing double. What you are seeing is another Hope for Dogs Rescue's miracle. After Teddy's adoption last week, this fabulous family adopted Tigger, nka Taco. Specifically, Taco's new daddy adopted Taco who is now and forever will be a part of this fantastic pack. Taco came to us also as a stray. He was very emaciated and full of ticks and fleas. This family immediately took him in to foster until his forever family was found. His daddy fell in love with him almost immediately but knew that they already had a number of pups of their own and another foster (Teddy). Still, he cared and loved Taco unconditionally fearing the day he would be taken away. After what seemed to be an eternity, Teddy's moms agreed that he could put in an application to adopt Taco. He submitted the application and had the interview. He was told that although they were Taco's foster family, we were looking for the perfect forever family. Days passed and he didn't hear anything further. Then that fateful day arrived when he was summoned to the family room and was told that Taco would be his, forever. Feelings of joy and relief filled the room and the rest is history. We are blessed to have this remarkable family as part of our HFDR ohana and wish all of them the most wonderful adventures life has to offer.
