In the beginning of Philippians 3 Paul reminds us that we don't put any confidence in our flesh because we are worshipers of God, by the Spirit of God and therefore we are to boast in Jesus and Jesus alone. He continues to share his worldly and religious achievements making the point that compared to knowing Jesus it is all rubbish, dung. Paul's righteousness, our righteousness is from nothing else but faith in Jesus Christ- His death and resurrection. And when our confidence is in Jesus it cannot be taken or shaken. And when we humble ourselves and do like Paul does, we can be confident that although we aren't yet made perfect this side of heaven we are to continue to press on towards the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. It is an encouragement to not quit. To not rely on self but to rest in Him and rely on His Holy Spirit. Don't let enemy get you self-focused and defeated. Lift your eyes to Jesus, forgetting what is behind and looking to Him, the Author and the Finisher of your faith.
