Since 1955, KCHA has been dedicated to giving homeless pets a second chance. Their mission goes far beyond finding homes—they provide medical care, behavioral evaluations, enrichment, vaccinations, microchipping, and so much more to ensure every animal has the best opportunity to thrive.

They’re now bringing adoptable dogs and cats to Petco in Middletown, making it easier than ever for local families to find their perfect companion.

🐾Playing with puppies and kitties all day sure is fun, but we do so much more than that. This is a career. We are small business owners with a passion for pets, and just like any other business, there are many ‘hats’ we wear.

🧢Some of them we don’t always enjoy, so we choose to delegate them, while other roles really connect with our personal mission and values. These are the ones we can dig into and grow as an individual. You do so much behind the scenes and we hope you know it does not go unnoticed.

Today we had to say goodbye to sweet Shimmy.
Bella rescued her years ago and gave her the best life. When Shimmy was diagnosed with cancer, Bella did everything she could to keep her comfortable and happy. Shimmy loved people, attention, rubbing her face against her brush and #1 she loved her mama so much and cuddling up against her was the best….her purring said it all!
She was such a good girl and will be missed tremendously. I will forever do the ShimShim flip/bounce to every cat in a memory of her.
I’m so thankful I got to spend time with her a few weeks ago and made a few more memories.
Run free, ShimShim!! 🌈🐾
