How can you not love a face like that? šŸ«šŸ’›

Peaceful Pastures Donkey Rescue shared this adorable reminder that donkeys aren't just cute, they're full of personality too. From playful antics to sweet moments, they always know how to make us smile.

How can something THIS cute even be real?! šŸ’›

Those long floppy ears…
Those soft fuzzy noses…
Those big soulful eyes that somehow look innocent even when they’re stealing treats šŸ˜‚šŸŖ

Donkeys have a special kind of cuteness that sneaks right into your heart. One little head tilt, one tiny bray, one curious nose boop—and suddenly your entire day is better. šŸ’•

And let’s not forget their personalities! Some are goofy, some are dramatic, some are sweet little cuddle bugs… but every single one has a charm that’s impossible to resist.

Honestly, we may be biased… but we think donkeys are some of the cutest souls on earth. šŸ«āœØ

šŸ’¬ Tell us—what’s YOUR favorite adorable donkey feature?
The ears? The noses? The fuzzy faces? The tiny brays? šŸ‘‡šŸ’›

Gentle Spirit Horses Rescue recently wrapped up one of their monthly farrier weekends šŸ‘£šŸ“

Around 40 horses were seen and trimmed as needed to help keep them comfortable and healthy. Winnie and Chester also received shoes to continue supporting their rehab, while Gemini began corrective trimming for her club feet after getting clean x-ray results ā¤ļø

It’s always amazing to see the amount of care and dedication that goes into helping so many horses.

It's our monthly farrier weekend! About 40 horses will see the farrier and be trimmed if they need it. Winnie and Chester are getting shoes to help finish up their rehab, and Gemini will be trimmed to start correcting her club feet since her x-rays came back clean. It's a long but important weekend but can be a lot of fun!

We spend anywhere from $800-1200 per month on farrier care! Each trim is $50, and an easy way to help cover the ongoing costs of care of the horses you help us save is to set up a small monthly sponsorship. 100 people giving $10 a month would ensure our farrier visit is paid for every month without fail! Can you sponsor a trim this month or spare $10 every month? Donate at http://gentlespirithorses.org/donate

Every horse at auction deserves a chance at a safer future.

MJM Horse Rescue shared an update about several horses they are hoping to help from auction. Situations like these are always a reminder of how quickly rescue needs can arise and how much work goes into giving horses a safe place to land.

Sharing a special update from Wild Horse Rescue Center šŸ¤

This is The Duke, a super senior who arrived back in February in very thin condition with a long, unkempt coat.

It’s been great to see the progress he’s made since then. With consistent care and proper nutrition, he’s starting to fill out—his hips and belly looking stronger, and overall doing much better.

A reminder of the difference steady, attentive care can make over time.

Some mornings in rescue stay with you.

Today, Ho**er Ranch Equine Refuge is saying goodbye to Murphy.

He slipped away peacefully overnight at 28 years old. For the last two years, he lived in safety, no uncertainty, no fear. Just steady care, full meals, and quiet days in the pasture.

Murphy wasn’t the kind to demand attention. He was gentle, steady… the kind of horse you feel before you even realize how much he matters.

And now, there’s a stillness where he used to be.

This is the side of rescue that’s hardest to carry.

Not the urgency. Not the chaos. But the quiet goodbyes.

Because rescue isn’t only about the saves. It’s about showing up every single day, right to the very end, making sure they are safe, comfortable, and never alone.

Murphy had that.

And that matters more than anything.

Thank you to Ho**er Ranch Equine Refuge for giving him a place to land, and to everyone who helps make moments like this possible.

Give your horses an extra moment today.

šŸ¤ Run free, Murphy.

This morning was one of the hardest parts of rescue…
Waking up to find that Murphy had passed away quietly in the night.

Murphy was 28 years old, and for over two years, he was safe here—loved, cared for, and finally able to just be. Every feed, every gentle check-in, every day he spent in the pasture was a promise kept to him: that he would never have to worry again.

Sanctuary horses aren’t just animals we care for… they become part of us. And Murphy was no exception. He carried a quiet strength about him, the kind that leaves a mark on your heart without you even realizing it.

Even when you know their time is coming, it doesn’t make mornings like this any easier. The barn feels quieter. The pasture feels emptier. And there’s a space that only Murphy could fill.

Rescue isn’t just about saving lives…
It’s about giving them dignity in their final chapter.
It’s about loving them enough to stand by them until the very end.

Murphy didn’t leave this world alone or afraid. He left it knowing comfort, full bellies, softness beneath his feet, and people who truly cared.

Thank you to everyone who supports us—you made it possible for Murphy to spend his final years in peace and love.

Hold your horses a little closer today.
And please keep our team in your thoughts as we say goodbye to a very special old soul. šŸ¤

Run free, Murphy.

What’s your ā€œdifferentā€ way of helping a horse feel safe around people?

For Lazy B Equine Rescue and Sanctuary here’s what they love šŸ‘‡

Sometimes, it’s not about training at all… it’s just about being there.

Sitting in or beside their hay feeder during feeding time, catching up on emails, and letting the horses simply exist without pressure. No expectations, no demands, just a calm, steady presence.

Over time, they start to associate people with something safe and predictable. Eating brings comfort, and little by little, trust begins to grow.

After a few days, you’re no longer something unfamiliar… you’re just part of their routine.

Although we can’t help but imagine they’re thinking:
ā€œHere comes the human who thinks she’s part of the hay crew šŸ¤”ā€

Sometimes, the smallest, quietest moments make the biggest difference šŸ’›

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18cGVzxs8y/

What’s your ā€œdifferentā€ or untraditional approach to helping horses feel safe and comfortable around people?

I’ll go first - I sit in or beside their hay feeders during feeding time and catch up on emails. It lets them associate my presence with something positive and predictable. Eating naturally releases endorphins, so they begin to connect me with that calm, feel good state. After a couple of days, I’m not something scary or stressful, I’m just part of the routine.

Can you imagine what they’re thinking?
ā€œGreat, here comes the human that thinks we are going to eat her instead of our hay šŸ¤”ā€

Some horses go through far too many homes before someone finally steps in to help. 🐓

This horse has been passed from owner to owner for a long time, even spending time loose and becoming a bit of a local legend along the way. It quickly became clear he needed experienced handling and a full vet check, so he was brought to our member rescue, Colorado Horse Rescue Network, where he can finally get the professional care and evaluation he deserves.

They’re currently calling him Pyrite - Fool’s Gold, and hoping this is the start of a better chapter for him. šŸ’›

This is one of the heartbreaking moments in rescue that no one ever wants to face. šŸ’”

Our member rescue, Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab, recently welcomed a beautiful little filly named Sugar & Spice. Sadly, she was born with a severe deformity in her front leg that would have left her in constant pain with no quality of life. After consulting with their vet, the incredibly difficult but compassionate decision was made to let her go peacefully.

Our hearts are with everyone at Pony Tales Refuge & Rehab who loved her, and with her mama, Cinnamon. Run free, sweet girl. 🌈
