🐾✨ Emma’s Training Session Recap ✨🐾

We had a fantastic training session focusing on advanced hand signals and leash work. Emma practiced all commands using hand signals, which mimics baiting and luring without the need for treats in our moving hand—great for building focus and communication.

We also incorporated leash corrections into broken stays, gently applying leash pressure to guide Emma back into position and then using the leash to redirect and reset her. This helps reinforce stability and responsiveness in her stays.

Our door drill was a highlight! Emma was placed into a stay—such as sit, down, or place—while her owner stayed outside. The trainer knocked and rang the doorbell, waiting for Emma to hold her stay until the guest was settled inside. Emma performed exceptionally, demonstrating her strong stay skills under distraction.

Afterward, we moved outside to work on leash drills. We practiced the leash circle drill and our start-stop-sit exercise, where we walk a few paces, stop, and apply gentle upward pressure on the leash until Emma sits. Once she sits, the pressure is released, and she’s praised and rewarded, reinforcing good behavior during walks.

Such progress shows Emma’s dedication and focus. Keep up the great work! 💪🐶

Mazi’s Training Triumphs: Focus, Distractions, and Success! 🐾✨

We had a productive session working on implied stays for all commands, applying the e-collar to broken stays to reinforce consistency along with strengthening recall skills, ensuring reliable responses.

A distraction dog was incorporated to simulate real-world distractions, helping Mazi stay focused and calm in challenging environments. 🐕🌀 We practiced focused heel work passing by the distraction dog, and Mazi did really well, showcasing impressive concentration and control.

Great progress and dedication from Mazi! Keep up the fantastic work! 🎉🐕

Training Update: Onyx, Ruby, and Lucy's Latest Session🤩

Yesterday's training session was a productive one for Onyx, Ruby, and Lucy. We shifted our focus to labeling all commands, starting with a simple yet effective technique. Our goal was to teach the pups to associate hand signals with specific actions, using the environment to our advantage. For each command, we would lure the pups into the desired position without treats in our hands, and as soon as their bottoms touched the floor or they completed the action, we would give that action its corresponding label (e.g. "sit").

To our delight, all three pups picked up on this quickly, learning the labels for "sit," "down," "place," "come," and "heel" in no time. This exercise not only helped them understand the connection between hand signals and actions but also encouraged them to think critically about their environment and respond accordingly.🐕🤗

Following the labeling exercise, we moved on to long leash work, where Ruby's owner took center stage. Ruby, being the energetic pup she is, has a tendency to run off when she gets excited. To address this issue, we introduced the e-collar as a training tool to help her learn self-control and stay by her owner's side.

The session was a great opportunity for Ruby's owner to become familiar with the e-collar, learning how to use it correctly and when to apply corrections. We took a low-and-slow approach, explaining each button's function and demonstrating how to use them effectively.

BoDuke's Training Session Update 🐕

Today was a productive day at the training session for BoDuke. We're making great progress, and I'm excited to share some of the new skills he's learning 🎉.

We started the session by introducing labeling for all commands. This means using hand signals to motion the action we want completed, and then naming the action. For example, we motioned for BoDuke to put all four paws on an elevated object, and then named it "place". This labeling technique will help BoDuke understand the commands more clearly and make it easier for him to learn new skills 🤓.

After working on labeling, we headed outside to practice intro to leash walking. We started with the leash circle drill, both with his owner and the kiddos 👧. We did lateral movements with a bounce on the end of the leash, praising when he is watching you and following, occasional treat for completing turns 🥩.

Then we moved on to our start stop sit drill ⏱️. We took three steps, stopped, and then lured BoDuke into a sit. We repeated this process until he understood the command and could stop on cue.

Overall, it was a great training session for BoDuke, and we're looking forward to seeing the progress he'll make in the coming days.

🌿 Adventure at Mulberry Rock Park: Bo’s Training Session 🐾

We took advantage of the beautiful outdoors at Mulberry Rock Park for a dynamic training session with Bo! 🌳 This session was all about adapting to a new environment and building confidence in different settings. Bo excelled in long-distance recalls, demonstrating focus and reliability even when distractions were around.

We also worked around another dog, putting commands and recalls into practice with added environmental stimuli. Both Bo and the distraction dog worked through various commands together, showcasing great obedience.

A fun-filled park training that not only challenges the pups but also strengthens their skills in a relaxed, natural setting. 🐶✨

Pawsitive Pace Changes 🐾💨: Advancing Lady's Leash Walking Skills

We recently put Lady through a training session that focused on refining her leash walking skills, specifically on making sharp turns, quick U-turns, and navigating unexpected pace changes. This challenging exercise is essential for her to become a well-behaved companion in various environments.

One of our favorite drills, the "granny walk" pace change, had her going from a brisk pace to a slow and steady gait. This exercise requires her to quickly adjust to the change in pace while maintaining a comfortable and relaxed demeanor. We also practiced fast to slow, left and right hand turns, allowing her to get accustomed to the various directions and sudden stops.

To further test her agility and obedience, we incorporated drills that required Lady to walk on both the outside and inside of her handler. This helped her to become more confident and adaptable to different situations.

Chocco’s Public Adventure: Building Confidence One Step at a Time 🐶✨

Chocco had an exciting training session at Home Depot! The main focus was on socialization and obedience in a busy, public environment. Since Chocco is a fear-aggressive pup, we started by warming up in the parking lot to help him feel safe and comfortable. Once he was relaxed, we headed into the store and targeted a high-traffic area to introduce him to new sights and sounds.

Strangers approached us and offered treats while Chocco patiently held a sit. This helped him learn that new people and unexpected situations can be positive experiences. The goal was to desensitize him to common triggers and boost his confidence in real-world settings.

Chocco showed great progress, and with each step, he's becoming more comfortable and confident in his surroundings! 🐾💪

Luring Her Way to Success 💡🐶

At K9 Coaches LLC, we welcomed Emma to her first training session with a focus on the basics. Given it was her first time, we introduced her and her owner to the world of baiting and luring.

Using treats, we guided Emma into performing the desired actions, such as sitting by elevating the treat above her head or lying down by holding it near the ground. We also practiced place, come, and release commands using the same luring technique.

We're excited to see Emma grow and learn, and we can't wait for her next session! 🐾💕
