Hi Y’all just popping on to give an update.

One of the few reasons we moved to the mainland was to be back in dog culture AND have more affordable and easier vet care for our dogs.

Pinky will be turning 12 in 2 months. She’s doing great and still the b*tch of the house… but her body is starting to show signs of her early life neglect and probably breed related issues.

What we thought was an eye ulcer (diagnosed by a few vets) is actually a mass on her eye which is causing her blood vessels to swell and even bleed.

Just when we thought Pinky couldn’t be any more metal, here she is dripping blood out of her eye lol.

Why I love where we are living. I booked online, within minutes they called me said her case sounded pretty urgent and if they have any cancellations they’ll squeeze me in. A few hours later, they made her an appointment for the following day.
Today after getting a few opinions they gave us a referral to an eye specialist that actually has openings next week.
I’ve been told that yes it looks horrible it’s not actually painful. Pinky doesn’t seem at all phase by her eye and still gives everyone a hard time. So now we wait until next week to see what our plan of attack will be for her.

Photo dump of the last few weeks. Where life has been and where it’s taking us.

700 linear ft fence installed by my mom and I 💪 and more home repairs.

Next week Sarge goes into a new training class while Buddy and I step foot on an agility field for the first time in a year. We get to train with some of Team USA agility gurus and then we head to a weekend long seminar.

I’ve been pretty busy with home repairs, dog stuff, and I started working out to be a better handler for Buddy. But also for myself. So many years I put my business, dogs, and partner ahead of my needs and my health.

It’s so easy getting caught up in success in a business and the life you created. It’s addicting but then eventually burnout happens with poor management. For a good amount of time I lost joy in my work and life. Things are better but it’s a slow recovery.

Thanks for everyone still following along and continuing to support our little but might pet business.

The boys had fun in their Trekkers group. Sarge did amazing with strangers and other dogs. We stayed behind, walked more and stop by the historical village where a blacksmith made us a gift.

He as well has a border collie and was so kind to Sarge and gave him his space. By the end of the demonstration, Sarge was relaxing and lying down.

We’ve been working with front leg movements and “touch”. Sarge does a lot better on natural surfaces vs artificial. He’s been such a lax boy to train and I’m interested to see if his speed of learning picks up or am I just so used to Buddy speed.

Sarge has been on full raw for 3 days now and is loving it. The first meal he was like wtf is this? You want me to eat this. And the rest was history.

Careful 💩 inspection (and yes I check my dogs poo once a week at least) showed that he still had tapeworm. I went to tractor supply and got dewormer but idk I held off giving it to him and went the natural way.

Each p**p shows less and less worms.

I opted for the natural way (ground pumpkin seeds and rabbit hide) because Sarge already has a lot going on. He is undergoing Lyme Disease treatments and his ears are extremely sensitive. I just didn’t want to shock his system even more.

In a few weeks, I’ll send his p**p in for a f***l to make sure things are clear and if they’re not then we’ll give a dewormer.

We are just so happy with this boy. I just can’t get over how good he is. I guess I know how to pick them.

Life with 6 dogs is a lil chaotic right now. Lots of little arguments over personal space and that’s ok. Dogs explore what they can get away with and with whom and they pick until it’s not tolerated anymore.

I don’t interfere in these little arguments. I let the dogs settle them with their own corrections but I watch to make sure things don’t escalate.

Right now Pokey is very sensitive and today was the first time he actually played with Sarge. Pokeys maintaining distance and if Sarge breaches his bubble Pokey lets him know.

Believe it or not The Bully Girls (Gracie, Snow and Pinky) all love Sarge. Probably because they can boss around a herding dog and he doesn’t take it to heart lol.

Next week Sarge gets to go to Kamp Kentucky. I can’t wait to see his mind blown with the livestock.

Recently inspired me to follow my heart after a conversation we had together. What truly makes me happy and my heart full is rescuing dogs. My ideal situation is wondering around in nature with lots of dogs and working with those said dogs.

Meet Sarge! I actually think his name suits him but we’re not 100% set on it. I recently saw him on a Facebook post from and sometimes you just know. I left my house in North Carolina yesterday before 6am and met this incredible boy. We drove through Maryland and DC traffic and terrible rains and made it home at almost 9pm.

Today he got to explore our house, yard, and met the pack. Somehow we always manage to get another dog that just slips right in. Just a hiccup in time but otherwise it’s like we’ve always had him.

Back home and without the heat and high humidity yes!

Yea! I bring all the dogs to yard but so do mom’s creations. Lava Paws Fishing for Chicken is back in stock and my dogs absolutely go nuts over these treats.

🛑 being a reactive pet parent and start practicing proactive pet care!!

Today we established care at a vet in Charlotte that specialize in holistic pet health. Buddy went for maintenance acupuncture. He got to enjoy a lick mat while waiting 20 mins with 17 needles. As a highly active dog it is so important to take care of his body. Diet and exercise isn’t enough for long term health. Acupuncture and other holistic practices can reduce inflammation and pain and increase mobility, support gut health and so much more.

Pinky is doing a lot better since it rained and she’s super spicy. We referred to the Rita’s book The Herbal Dog to add and take out items in her diet to lower her histamine. I’m hoping to flush some extra histamine out of her body to help with these seasonal allergies.
