National organizations are standing up for Hawaii’s pets.

County of Hawai‘i take notice. Mayor Kimo Alameda stop Bill 51 and start tackling the root causes of the abysmal animal welfare conditions….starting with your animal control agency.

We must act fast to stop a proposed ordinance to criminalize the feeding of community cats in parks or other county property in Hawaiʻi County! If you live in Hawaiʻi, please take just a minute to take action and/or SHARE this post.

The Hawaiʻi County Council will be considering the cruel proposal, Bill 51, soon. If this greatly misguided ordinance is approved, feeding community cats on all property owned by Hawaiʻi County will be illegal—with a penalty of $50 - $500.

🚨 TUESDAY, JULY 8 @ 1PM – SHOW UP & SPEAK OUT to protect 🐈🐈‍⬛

We need 5-10 people to show up in each location in person to make an impact. Please note in comment if and where you can attend.

Hawaiʻi County’s first structured, humane cat management program is finally underway — with trained caretakers, designated feeding areas, and targeted sterilization.

But Bill 51, now up for public hearing, could derail community trust and participation before we even have a chance to show results.

If this bill moves forward, it MUST be amended to clearly state that:
Approved caretakers under county-recognized programs will NOT be in violation of the law.
