It’s 5:30pm. It’s pitch black. A full strength energy drink at 5pm is needed to get through working horses now 😆. Thankful for our neighbors with an indoor to use, with light!

As a start to their winter training, Lena and Gertie are getting a big groundwork refresher this evening. This winter Lena is working towards getting started under saddle, and baby Gertie will be doing lots of ground work in preparation for driving training next spring. oth

A little change of pace for Kjaer today as we took a lesson in an arena. In a couple short weeks when the clocks change we will be back doing more arena work. We have so much to work on. A part of me looks forward to winter training. The darkness I could do without. We still finished the afternoon with a beautiful ride around on our neighbor’s High Cliff Stables of Wisconsin trails.

My heart is full after a fall ride with Kjaer. A one week riding break post fun show turned into nearly three as I came down with a viral bug. After three weeks off, we were able to hack out around the bean field with no signficant fuss. No lunging or prep work required. When I lost my mare Skyview Sylvia just over two years ago I wondered when the day would come that I would have a steady, reliable, get on and go horse again. They are rare and worth their weight in gold. Kjaer keeps proving himself to be just what I need ❤️.
