Since it is the first day with his bestie Lena away, we took it easy and just practiced some tricks. I haven’t played with any trick training for awhile. Kjaer was a good boy! We *almost* have his bow achieved. The bow has been the hardest for him to learn so far. He did hold his sit for quite a while! Long enough to get a good photo. Good boy ❤️ So fun to play with.

I have been so busy that I almost forgot!

While Lena and soon Kjaer are away, she will get all the attention this summer. It’s time for her to start a little more significant training. She has been allowed to be a little feral 😆.

And then there were three.. Lena was dropped off at driving training this rainy afternoon. It’s strange to have her gone. I know Kjaer will miss her very much, but she is off to learn new things. We will see her soon.

Kjaer had his first offical trail ride under saddle! I hauled him to this park as a 2yr old and walked the trails, but today was the day to ride. He confidently led the way most of the ride. We saw several deer, crossed water, and a bridge with a waterfall. I think he had a blast. His ears were always forward as he marched along and took in the sights.

Lena had a little refresher in her harness this afternoon. She is leaving Monday for formal driving training. She will be away for about two months. The plan is to have Kjaer join her during her 2nd month so we can see if they will work well as a team.

While we plan to have a lot of horse time this weekend, it is important to remember what this weekend is about. It is a time to remember those who paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy every day 🇺🇸

My great uncle was one of the many who gave their lives in World War II. I happened to find a newspaper announcement of his passing while browsing a book of clippings from the war at a historical society this past December. I may have never met him, but it was neat to find this piece of history. My grandma, Polly Ann is mentioned.
