People ask me all the time how I feed our dogs. These are my go to!

I like the stainless insert so you can easily toss it in the dishwasher. They also have slow feed option in silicone which is helpful with the 🐷

This is a touchy conversation, but I would just want to let you know my personal feelings and then you can do what you want with them…

My dogs are not out in social settings very often therefore I do not find the need to vaccinate them often as we have limited outside contact. But I will always finish their puppy shots and get them their 1yr old vaccinations. After that I pull back. I’m a big believer in bordatella but everything else I feel they over vaccinate and have seen dogs lifes considerably shortened due to vaccines.

When my vet pushes me to vaccinate my dogs, I ask them to run titers. This shows the antibodies already in the system. I would suggest you ask for it, see it and then make your decision. I have vets pushing for yearly shots but I’ve had great titers going on 5years. Why do we want to poison our pets?

As you enjoy the festivities, don’t forget to set your pets up for success today. Fireworks can be scary for animals, but a little preparation goes a long way:

🐾 ID Tags Are a Must
Even if you’re staying home, make sure all pets are wearing collars with current ID tags—just in case they slip out unexpectedly.

🐾 Feed & Potty Before Dark
Give them dinner early and take them out for a bathroom break before the noise begins.

🐾 Secure All Exits
Lock pet doors, exterior doors, and garage doors before nightfall to prevent any panic escapes.

🐾 Drown Out the Booms
Put on a loud movie or calming music to help muffle the sound of fireworks and ease anxiety.

🐾 Plan Ahead, Train Often
We work with our dogs all year around loud noises so that when the Fourth comes, they’re cool as a cucumber—some even sit on the porch and enjoy the show!

Many don’t know this information! Remember every second matters during a choking incident.
1. Place the dog on their back. Brace the back against the floor. Straddle the dog while adjusting yourself based on the size of the dog. Position the head in “in-line position” with the airway parallel to the floor.
2. Make an open diamond shape with your hands. Place your thumbs on either side of the trachea below the ball or object. Grip the “V” of the jaw using lip/cheek to protect fingers.
3. Push with a J-stroke down and out against the ball until it ejects from the mouth.
Both this method and the Heimlich method has been proven to work in these scenarios so don’t hesitate to save your dog.

Did you know that if you have a pacemaker, you can include it in your Will to be donated to a dog in need after you pass away?
Although pacemakers cannot be used for another human, they can help dogs with heart problems and potentially save their lives. You can arrange for the pacemaker to be sent to a vet of your choice. Many pacemakers are simply thrown away, and dogs may die because people do not know about this option. Donating the pacemaker can even save the dog's owner the cost of a new one, which can sometimes make a crucial difference in affording life-saving treatment.
How to donate? Update your will: Leave instructions to have your pacemaker removed and sent to a veterinary clinic of your choice
Ask your doctor to save the pacemaker: When your pacemaker is being replaced or upgraded, ask your doctor to save it for donation
Contact your local vet: Confirm that they would be able to use the pacemaker.

I normally don’t share things like this, but this one hits so close to home. In fact, this is one of our babies from the class of 2023. He has had quite the battle and we have yet to discover why. The Wheelers give him the best love and care that they can, but costs are getting Exorbitant and they need assistance. Anything will help.
