This happened yesterday. Had to scoop up Bumbles from our Foster Furrever Program with senior Sue. She called last weekend and said that 5 year resident Bumbles needed a vet. He was coughing and not well. I decided to take him to Northeast Animal Hospital because it was VERY close to her house and very far from IAH and it would've been an extremely long day for him and I and not conducive for a scared kitty.
We saved Bumbles 6.5 years ago. He was trapped in my mom's backyard. In a very dangerous area for any kitty. Lots of coyotes ++ . He appeared at the time out of nowhere. We trapped him and found out that he wasn't fixed and was about a year old at the time. We had him fully vetted and after a bit we needed a place for him. Our rescue was still fairly new at the time and Sue stepped up for us and him. He's been there living life and being waited on hand and foot but she wasn't petting him. Sue saves LOTS of kitties for many rescues. She rarely says no. Fast forward to yesterday. Bumbles didn't know why me, the bad guy, was suddenly there and taking him away from his home. Upon arrival at the vet, I decided to try out his temperament with an extendable back scratcher. It went pretty well, considering lots of hisses and showing me his not pearly whites. Dr.Castro came in and couldn't handle him so we had to have him gased to knock him out to see in his mouth and assess him. πΏ The findings are Stomatitis. π It's not deadly but it's painful and he will now need a shot for his mouth every 2 months. The problem with that, is that after many shots over many years can cause diabetes long-term. π° Not guaranteed but probable. π Bumbles got a convenia antibiotic shot and the steroid shot yesterday. He was blowing bubbles of an upper respiratory infection from the Stomatitis/infection. I decided not to take him back to Sue's after and try to pet him while he was still sedated slightly. It worked I was petting him with my hand in an enclosed space. And again today multiple times. I'm going to continue to work with him but we do not have a space for him long-term. πππ He's 7.5 years old, fully vetted and microchipped. He's liking being pet now and should continue to want to enjoy love after all of these years. Sue is getting ready to move back home to South Dakota or Wyoming in a few months. He can't go with her. Now we REALLY need a HERO to save us and our boy. We are not sure where this miracle adopter is going to come from but we're waiving his adoption fee in hopes for a miracle. ππππ
PLEASE let us know if you could possibly help us with the is boy who is kitty friendly and about to be very human friendly. I believe she could've pet him before but she's been busy working and helping all of us save so many others. There's just not enough help in the town for all of the sweet souls needing help. π
Yesterday was$245.74 and unexpected. We had no choice but to pay in full. Which has left us drained. We have to pay spay and neuter center over $2k VERY soon. π We need a few small miracles. We'll post his bill in the comments as this FB page won't let us post pictures and videos on the same post. π Any help towards our bills is ALWAYS greatly appreciated. π
