We love updates from our adopters. After posting Charlie’s update, Patches family sent us pics of this handsome fella. The first is with him and his momma the night we got them to the rescue and the second is him and his new sister. Patch has grown into such a big handsome boy.

I know we’ve been rather quiet on Facebook. I apologize. For those that don’t know, this rescue is a three-person show. It’s me, my wife, and best friend. I work full time as a police officer and my wife has multiple obligations that keep her busy. We don’t dedicate as much time as we should to this because we don’t really have any.

If you’d be interested in volunteering to help us manage our social media, please message the page or me directly. Things we could use help with is networking/marketing our available animals regularly to get exposure, helping set up fundraisers, and answering questions that come in.

Charlie: June of 2024 vs July of 2025. When I went to get Gemma and her puppies, I was told by a fellow rescuer, Sharon, that she had seen another dog but not for some time. Once I got Gemma and her babies in the truck, I went out and found this guy tied to a tree in the middle of a field 100s of yards from anything. I got him off the chain he was on and carried him to my truck.

Charlie deserved so much better and he hit the jackpot. Thanks to Charlie’s family for sharing this pic. Charlie will always be special to us as he was the first dog we ever officially adopted.

The rescue is still alive thanks to Michelle and her team at Tractor Supply in Geneva that donated this pallet of dog food to us. We haven’t taken in any animals lately, just trying to care for the ones we have as adoptions have crawled to a snails pace.

Most of our dogs are coming due for an annual checkup and rabies vaccine which won’t come cheap. If you’d consider donating to their care, we’d be very grateful.

Oreo is our featured pet. He has been with us all his life. He always gets compliments and people are surprised when they find out he’s gone so long without being adopted.

He’s about 90 lbs of clumsy labrador love with a cute underbite. He’s funny, playful, quiet, and good with dogs and kids. He’s UTD on vaccines and neutered. Share his pictures and hopefully we can find him a home.

We didn’t manage to adopt any dogs out yesterday but we are grateful for those who stopped by and donated and said hi.

We did however adopt out our longest resident, Polly, today. Polly has been with us right at a year. We are so grateful for her new family and hoping her and her new pal lucky live happy lives together. Thank you for choosing to adopt this girl.

We know it’s short notice but we will be at TSC Geneva tomorrow from 1030-230 with some of our dogs and cats looking for forever homes. We will also be accepting donations. We want to shoutout the Michelle and her team for being a constant support for us here in the county. Adoption fees will be $50 for both dogs and cats. All animals are fixed and UTD on vaccines. We look forward to seeing you. 🐾💕🐶🐱

Still looking for a foster home for these little ones. The Lady who has been taking care of them will start working soon and she will not be able to care for them. Thank you!

We are seeking a foster home for three abandoned kittens. They require feeding every 2-3 hours and will need regular check-ins. We will provide you with the necessary formula and guidance on what to do. The fostering period will be temporary, lasting about 4-6 weeks, until the kittens are able to eat on their own. Thank you!

Talk about a glow-up. Next month will be a year since we took in our first rescue puppies. Polly here is the only one left. All seven of her siblings and her momma have been adopted. I struggle to understand why she hasn’t had a person come to meet her yet. She’s silly, athletic, playful, good with kids and cute to boot. Hopefully her time is coming soon.

We are still unable to take on anymore dogs or cats as this time as adoptions are moving at a snails pace. As a small shelter we just don’t have the visibility like others. Facebook and Petfinder are the only real avenues we have for being noticed. This doesn’t stop people from asking us to help other animals in need but unfortunately we just don’t have the resources. If you’d be interested in fostering one of our sweet pups to help get them more exposure, please let us know.

Lastly, we appreciate the support over the last year. It’s been ups and downs for my wife, my best friend, and myself who have been doing our best to keep this afloat. Try as we might, we are approaching a threshold where it may no longer be financially possible to do this. Dog food, cat food, litter, supplies, medical treatment (the largest expense) is draining us. We have used personal funds to feed the pups at times but the reality is things are just getting more and more expensive.
