Wow — what a wonderful week here at His and Herps Exotics with two new intakes joining us!
🟢 First, meet our newest red‑foot tortoise.
He came in with a noticeably elongated and misshapen shell. While we never cast judgment on previous care, we do like to educate. Shell deformities like this can develop from a variety of factors such as inconsistent humidity, improper diet, or rapid growth during early development. These conditions can cause the shell to grow unevenly or stretch in unusual ways over time. What matters most now is that he’s safe, receiving proper nutrition, and getting the supportive environment he needs moving forward.
🟠 Next, say hello to our spunky little beardie!
He was originally found by a good Samaritan who reached out for help. After intake and a full check‑over, we’re happy to share that he’s doing great. He’s alert, active, and already showing off that classic bearded‑dragon personality.
Both animals are currently in quarantine, as all new arrivals are, to ensure their health and the safety of the rest of our residents. We’re excited to give them the care, stability, and attention they deserve as they settle in.
More updates to come as they progress — thank you for supporting responsible rescue and rehabilitation and adoption
