We are so VERY excited to officially announce that Dr. Jordan Shealey will be joining our team starting December 10th! With advanced training in emergency and internal medicine and a desire to form meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients and their families, Dr. Jordan brings a welcome combination of expertise and compassion to her practice of medicine. We can't wait to have you get to know her better! In the meantime, you can read a little bit more about Dr. Shealey below.

"Dr. Jordan Shealey earned her veterinary degree from the University of Glasgow School of Veterinary Medicine in Scotland in 2015 and went on to complete a year-long rotating internship at The Hope Advanced Veterinary Center in Vienna, Virginia, where she received advanced training in emergency and critical care and internal medicine.

Before moving to Massachusetts, Dr. Shealey worked as both an associate and relief veterinarian throughout the D.C. metro region. Although D.C. will always feel like home, she is happy to have settled on the North Shore with her husband - a North Shore native - their two boys, and their German Shepherd–Catahoula mix, Evie.

Dr. Shealey’s professional interests include geriatric care and internal medicine. She is dedicated to providing thoughtful, compassionate care and values building trusting, long-term relationships with her patients and the families who love them."

Thank you for your patience and for the outpouring of support our entire hospital has received over the last 24 hours. Please note that we will be closing at 2 pm today (Friday) with coverage graciously provided by Dr. Lauren Sawchyn. We will be open our usual hours for the holiday week (closing noon on Wednesday and reopening on Friday at 8 am). Please see the following update from Dr. St. Pierre below:

“We are relieved to report that Rhys is recovering at home after sustaining a fractured femur. Andrew and I are tremendously grateful to the entire team at Boston Children’s Hospital who handled his care with tremendous kindness, clarity, and expertise. We have a long road ahead us, and Rhys will require around the clock care for at least the next four weeks while he is in a brace and unable to stand or walk. Andrew will be taking leave from his work as a commercial pilot to be Rhys’ primary caregiver to allow me to continue to care for our patients at HWVH.

A huge thanks to our entire staff who went above and beyond to help our clients and patients yesterday. And thank you for the outpouring of support and well wishes that came through while Andrew and I were in the hospital with Rhys. We are grateful for the HWVH community every day, but especially during moments like these.”

The hospital will be closed today due to an emergency involving Dr. St. Pierre’s son. Staff will be in to triage cases Dr. St. Pierre was scheduled to see to local urgent care centers. If your pet was scheduled for surgery with Dr. St. Pierre, we will be in touch regarding rescheduling these procedures at the soonest possible date. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and will aim to be transparent with updates as to how this might impact scheduling as we head into the holiday week. Thank you in advance for your understanding and sensitivity towards Dr. St. Pierre as her family navigates this event.

Please note that Dr. St. Pierre will be out of the clinic starting Monday, November 10th through Friday, November 14th - the hospital will continue to operate under our normal hours, including Veteran's Day on the 11th, with coverage provided by our regular relief veterinarians.

We are also excited to announce that we will be bringing on a second full-time veterinarian in December of this year! We know it has been a long 8 months with Dr. St. Pierre covering the practice on her own and we could not be more thrilled to be returning to our two-doctor status! More details to come soon!
