Absolutely‼️
10 Things I learned from the 2020 NFR:
1. Everything really is bigger and better in Texas!
2. If you ain’t got friends that cheer for you like the Wright Brothers cheer for each other, get some new friends.
3. You ain’t no Cowboy unless you can Houlihan one around the neck and tie it down during a NFR performance and act like it’s just another day in the practice pen.
4. Kindness rocks, even if it comes in the form of a steer wrestler lovingly petting the animal he was just trying with all of his might to throw down.
5. Cowboys are a breed of their own. They may be stepped on, broken, and just released from the ICU but will show up and cheer on friends and fellow competitors.
6. Integrity is telling the judge that you did NOT have a clean catch as a competitor in the first ever National Finals Break Away Roping and taking yourself out of the #1 position in the Average.
7. Selflessness is being content, and urging others to be content, when you are disqualified for testing positive for COVID (having no symptoms) because you don’t want any actions you take to have negative effects for all the other competitors.
8. There is no sport that has been able to come close to producing and televising 10 nights of opening ceremonies that are so moving and inspiring to people both in the building and watching the telecast around the world.
9. If your barrel horse just helped you win the World, the NFR Average, the NFR Top Gun, and a pile of round wins, you should ride her for the victory lap and let her enjoy the well deserved standing ovation.
10. Winners do what needs to be done to win regardless of what other people think or say about it. Sometimes a rubber band is just the right tool to get 2 round wins and a pile of cash in your pocket.
