Trying to stop a dog from doing something can feel wildly frustrating.
We get so focused on what they “shouldn’t” do that we miss the obvious part.

Dogs aren’t trying to misbehave. They’re just behaving.
If your dog keeps doing something you don’t love, it’s not stubbornness or “””dominance.”””
It’s because that behavior works for them.

So stop fighting the urge.
Give it a job. Give it an outlet.

Let them chew something that’s allowed.
Let them shred cardboard instead of your couch.
Five seconds with a broom beats months of frustration.

When dogs have ways to do it right,
they usually stop doing it “wrong.”

We tend to wait until it really matters to practice recall — like when our dog is off leash at the park, mid-play, and suddenly we decide that’s the perfect time to test if “come” works.

But here’s the thing: recall isn’t built in high-stakes moments. It’s built in low-stakes ones. In your living room. In the yard. With distractions that your dog can actually handle.

A reliable recall doesn’t need an e-collar or “come here or else” vibes. It needs trust, repetition, and a dog who believes that running to you is the best deal in town.

Don’t wait until it’s urgent. Start now.
If you want recall that actually works, I can help you get there.

We popped up at today and brought the goods — and by “goods,” I mean snuffle mats, art prints, shirts, and an unreasonable amount of cuteness. Come say hi, shop some fun dog-lover merch, and pick my brain about dog training. Whether you’re curious about puppy manners or tackling tough behavior, I’m here all day and ready to talk dogs.

It’s been a long week.

Anyone else just surviving back-to-school season? Our five-year-old calls it “to school week” — she just left the amazing , the daycare/preschool she’s known for two years and started at a brand new school.

Kindergarten drop-offs are no joke. Big feelings, lots of nerves, and a whole new routine to adjust to.

And honestly, it reminds me a lot of dog training. Just like our kids, dogs need patience, consistency, and support when they’re faced with something unfamiliar. Whether it’s a new environment, a new skill, or a new handler — the transition can feel overwhelming. But with encouragement and clear expectations, they grow more confident every day.

So here’s to all the humans (and dogs) learning how to navigate new beginnings — one drop-off, one training session, one deep breath at a time. 🐾🎒

Everyone wants that dream walk…
You know the one: dog cruising beside you, leash loose, like you’re in a rom-com montage.

But here’s the thing—if your dog can’t walk calmly next to you in your living room, they’re definitely not ready for downtown SLO at 5pm.

Leash training doesn’t start at the park.
It starts in the kitchen.
In the hallway.
In the backyard.
In your pajamas.

Teaching your dog to stay near you while you move around your home is like the training wheels for real-world leash manners. No distractions. No squirrels. Just practice.

✨ Start simple. Go slow. Make it fun.
Because the walk of your dreams? It’s built one hallway lap at a time.
