🪰Let's talk fly control! 🪰
Flies can cause heaps of trouble beyond just being annoying. Flies can cause chipped hooves from stomping, which can turn into abscesses if left unnoticed. Irritation from flies can cause swelling along the belly and sheath or udder. Other more severe cases can look like hives, hair loss and even weight loss.
Keeping your herd happy and healthy can be hard when you are battling the constant issue of "where is your fly mask/boots??" 😅
These are the methods we recommend to help keep your herd happy and healthy:
🪰Fly boots, sheets and mask
🪰Turn out at night when fly activity has decreased.
🪰Feed additives that repel flies
🪰Fans in the stalls or shed (it is hard for bugs to fly in constant moving air)
Always remember to:
-Check the boots, mask and sheets for rubbing or sores.
-Clean the hind boots out daily from trapped manure.
